I think I seen on here that it can't be turned down. I really hope that I'm wrong because it is a bit loud and I would like it decreased too.

At first sight it seems as though it's possible through VCDS via Controller 77 (Telephone) -> Adaptation Channel 141 (Bluetooth Confirmation Tone) but unfortunately there's no access to that channel on the RS4 (mine at least), so almost certainly the answer's no

If turning the RNS-E volume down while the connect/disconnect noise is happening doesn't work then you're one of the unlucky ones who can't control the volume of it.

So when you get in the car at first you should turn the volume down? Is this before the noise or try and time it during the noise Dave? What do you mean by one of the unlucky ones?

Spot on as usual PetrolDave! - I tried that this morning and the volume of the tone does indeed change if you tweak the volume just as it's sounding - another handy bit of knowledge, and this time it's definitely not in the manual (I checked in case I missed it...), so as ever, respect for the wealth of knowledge!

During the tone.

For some people this works and for some it doesn't, and there appears to be no logic whether it works or not - on 2 cars with apparently identical versions of RNS-E and BT module it can work on one but not the other. That's what I mean by being one of the unlucky ones...

Aahhh I see. Thanks Dave. Suppose there isn't a way to lower the phone volume of the phone is there? Always find that if the phone rings then I have to rush to turn the volume down before I answer it, otherwise my ears bleed!

"phone volume" is ambiguous, but from your description I guess you mean the volume of the ring tone not the volume of the caller during a call?

Ring tone volume is controlled by the combination of the ring tone volume you have set on the phone and the volume of the connect/disconnect tone. Turn either of them down and the ring tone will get quieter.

Also works with the sat nav to radio volume ratio.

Ie if the nav instructions are too quiet / too loud, adjust the volume in the desired direction during a "sat nav announcement"

Bluetooth connect / disconnect noise

Works for me then reverts next time I get in, also had to turn my navigation and traffic vol in the menu all the way down as they are also deafening!

Any idea's.

Also does the factory Audi iPod adaptor show track names as the aftermarket dealer Audi one installed does not.

ditto - noise does go down when you tweak it but next time I get it bang... back to full volume again.

Out of interest, what phone is everybody using? (me = iphone)
I'm suspecting it might be phone related.
