Be interested to hear how the performance differs from the focus. I struggled to drop one the other day on a dual carriage way, and was quite surprised how fast it was

Theres alot motors that you have to keep an eye on,The Rs4s stats havent moved on in over a decade but alot of other stuff has :audibash: up until now the b7 dynamics have kept as the car to have offering a better package than its smaller competition but .............

It doesn't take much to get the focus circa 360bhp and if the RS4 is a touch down on power it's going to be pretty close :) power to weight and all that :)

Excactly but having said that i wouldnt have a Focus there a little too in ya face and build quality is pretty budget.Horses for courses n all that,id give one the thumbs up if it gave me a run in the twisties but then carry on my trip in comfort anf enjoy the solid quality of the RS4.

I'm inclined to agree
If I wanted outright performance, I'd have bought an atom or a R400 Caterham
As capable as the focus is, it looks like it should belong to the playstation generation and be blasting out massive base in McDonalds carpark ( i think Ford Acknowledged this as their core market when they produced it in bright green and used that as their launch and press car colour)
Still, as with lengster, I gave the guy the thumbs up when he eventually caught up with me at a roundabout as it was a genuinely surprisingly fast car and he gave me a shock when he wasn't as small in my rear view mirror as I'd expected
FWIW though, my RS4 goes into Audi Swindon tomorrow for a full strip down and carbon clean, so if I ever see one again, it'll be an even less fair battle ;)

I went along to the local Ford dealers to try one as my 'budget' option. You're right about the build quality - that aggressive looking bumper flexed like a margarine tub when I pressed my fingers against it! I still took it for a pretty rapid test drive. It drove like my mum's petrol focus below the power band then all hell breaks loose! Those front tyres grip the road like claws as they drag the rest of the car to some crazy speeds in what seems like a blink of an eye. Maybe I had my eyes closed. Who knows.

Sadly though, all the turbo kicks and whooshes in the world wouldn't make up for everything it lacked for me. I test drove my RS4 later that day and my decision was made. You have to respect the Focus RS and the lunatics who drive them every day though :beerchug:
