2012 Discs = Bluetooth Issues?

Post by Muneer » Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:54 pm

So, I got myself some Genuine 2012 Sat Nav discs from eBay last week. I put the first disc in and the firmware/software all updated fine.
I didn't notice any issues until Thursday, when someone tried ringing me and I couldn't hear them from the speakers at all - they could hear me fine, but I couldn't hear them.

Since then I've tried testing it by ringing a few people and it's the same issue, they can hear me but I not them. I tried re-setting the Phone settings, but that didn't help either and I can't see any other settings, which may help.

Does anyone have any clue as to what the issue may be? The whole thing worked fine with my 2007 discs.
I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Your 2007 discs have SW 0550, the 2012 have SW 0650.

I've run both in my RS4 with no BT problems at all so it's not a generic fault with the SW.

1) Try turning up the RNS-E volume when in a call - it's possible that the upgrade has set the BT volume to zero.
2) Have you checked for fault codes on the BT module and the RNS-E? Some fault codes are "blocking".

Thanks for the reply PetrolDave.

1. I tried turning the volume up when in a call, but that didn't seem to do anything either. Tried pressing the power button on and off too, incase it was muted, but nada.
2. I don't have VAGCOM/VCDS to check for any fault codes, but I will try and get that checked sometime next week. Hopefully it'll shed some light.

Just a small update. I haven't had a chance to get the car checked for any faults, but it randomly started working again earlier and seems fine now.
I can only assume it may have been an issue with my phone, rather than the car.

Thanks again for your help Dave!

If the BT kit is retro fit there are a couple of wire splices that are made and could possibly be one of these working loose/intermittently ?

As a point of interest that may (or may not) be related to this, I've found the Audi Bluetooth module to be randomly 'touchy' with certain phones - seemingly the less mainstream ones. Blackberry, iPhone generally etc no problem, but sulking with some Samsungs for example.

@adsgreen: Thanks, I'll have to remember that.

@MB2: I don't think mine was retro fitted, as it's got the cradle etc. It was fine before and has been since those couple of days, so I'm hoping it was just a one off bug/glitch of some sort.

@DALO: I think that may be it. Using a Nokia N97 myself, so could just have been due to that.

Nokia write their own Bluetooth stack, which has compatibility problems with many other BT devices.
