Gearbox re-map

Post by jerseybean » Mon May 07, 2012 7:34 am

Hi all

a little help and info please from those in the know, living in Jersey with an RS6 is crazy i know but can never get out of 3rd gear and sometimes even 2nd due to small roads and very slow drivers etc.

So was thinking am in the UK (Portsmouth) next and will have use of a car when over to get out and about, is it possible to just remove the gearbox ecu and get it re-mapped out of the car?

any thoughts please

thanks

Tony

Get intouch with mrc or grizz and ask the question. I think mtm can do it that way
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

HI Jerseybean. In Jersey mysqlf, MRC is only 2hours up the road from poole so it's well worth putting the car on the ferry to take it up to someone who knows just a little bit about audi's. Done the trip a couple of times look for the 3 day deals on condor, it works out a lot cheaper. You can get it on the rolling road then too. For maximum fun. Hope to see you round, i'm in a black saloon, only one on the island so you can't miss me. Sean.

What TCU does YorkRS6+ have? I think he has a Viper, where It kicks down to fourth when you only want to overtake a car in fifth and you don't want to access all that power in fourth, just some steady fifth gear progress. Just ask Rich about that, the MRC TCU is perfect, I've tested it on the autobahn and it didn't put a foot wrong, it would p1ss me off if it kickdown'd to fourth and went flying up the lane when I only wanted to quickly pass a lorry (easily done in fifth).

He doesn't know what TCU he has.

ACtually I have a spare Viper TCU. I will have to put it in and try it out.

I still have an MTM gearbox chip that I'll let go for cheap.

Only need someone who knows what he's doing with a soldering iron then.
