The bottom line is, its a B7 RS4 meet. There is a RS246 (official meet) in December this year.

To be fair I doubt if you turned up in another model, last year we had a few other Audis turn up.

Having this as a strictly B7 meet is meant as no disrespect to other models.

On the note of a Summer time national RS246 meet, then I am most def up for that. Maybe do a stand at GTI int this year?...just an idea.

On your last comment, I'd like to see more representation of our cars at some of the big shows, there doesn't seem to be much of that happening currently. Trouble is there's not many of us and we are all very spread out so its not easy to get together often. Where's GTI Int?

Well there was last year, there was only 2 cars, me and Macdaddy, it was run with the R32OC on the Saturday. Sunday I was on the SRS stand.

Agree would be good to get a good head of RS246 cars together. GTI int is at Bruntingthorpe

I feel sorry for you already Ian !!

You have explained that it took a lot of work, and your free time to organise last years meet, you've explained that you haven't got the time to organise what could become an 80 + car event and still you get criticised for not allowing owners of other models, ex owners of B7s, and non Audi owners wanting to attend !

You have explained that you want to keep this as a B7 meet only, i can absolutely appreciate that once you open the floodgates for all members of the RS246 Forum, it will be a nightmare for you to organise as, as more people keep joining the list it is going to be left to YOU to find a suitable venue, which will be changing all the time as the numbers keep going up !!

Then, you have to pick an eventual venue and as soon as that is announced, you get all the people who complain because it's too far for them to travel, could you not have it closer to them !!!

It's a thankless task and you have no chance of keeping everyone happy, it's only when you have arranged events like this that you realise the trouble, hassle, arguments, let downs you get youself involved in and you think to yourself "Never ever again"

So, let's keep it as you first suggested, a B7 meet and if any other different model owners want to arrange a meet, go ahead, but don't ask Ian to do it for you, get one of your own model owners to organise it.

One last thing Ian, have you reserved last year's venue and asked about the parking arrangements if it rains ?

All the cars are all parked in the same area, last year we had other Audi models there. By all means come along.

UPDATE:

After phoning around a few places the last couple days and basically having difficulty finding anywhere that’s perfectly suitable for our needs, I have decided to have the 2012 Gathering once again at The Old Lodge Malton. Biggest problem with going elsewhere is shortage of time and uncertainty of numbers. The Old Lodge are very accommodating that way and are absolutely delighted to have us back again. Having been there before we know that ; accommodation is first class, food is good, management/staff friendly and welcoming, and we’ve got a guaranteed area set aside for us.
The management are also quite happy to allow us on the front lawn again, - even if it rains/has been raining. Apparently the ground there is very free draining and not likely to be an issue! So same deal as last time, all Audi’s welcome but B7 RS4’s will be given priority on the front as its ‘our day’, last year we had 40 RS4’s.
There is a fair size area at the back of the hotel (on the grass) as well as spaces at the side for any others who want to come along. I would imagine room for 30 cars or so?

Regarding accommodation; there are 13 rooms available in the Old Lodge for Sunday night and they have also own another place ‘ just along the road’ (not yet opened) with another 8 rooms available for both Saturday and Sunday nights. It would be advisable to phone and book/reserve them as soon as possible and leave a deposit. http://www.theoldlodgemalton.co.uk/ I am currently trying to negotiate a discount for us but don't have a confirmed price yet.

We will also be organising a Sunday lunch again and full details of that will follow later. In the meantime if you could add how many for lunches against your name below it will help me with numbers so I can go back to the management.

After last years very successful inaugural meeting we aim to build on that and have a few wee things planned to make the day a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone. Hope thats all clear and really hope you can make it along.

tim, are you gonna pay for your scran this time.. it was a superb meet last year, at a great venue, with a cracking bunch of people..and i am gutted that our flight out for our family holiday is on the same day..anyone who ummmed and rrrrd, last year should defo go imo..i am gutted i will miss this,but understand the date wont please everyone whenever it is set..well done ian for organising it again, and i will watch the thread evolve with envy over the next few months
