Both sides can be changed without out removing engine one side is easyish the other needs a bit of jiggery pokery 
Your steering wheel is on the wrong side not sure if that makes a difference

I've had both done and IIRC the driver side (UK) was the easier one.

Ringo, any guesstimate on the price or the booktime involved when you had yours replaced in situ? Mine are weeping slightly too and it does bug me so is on the list.

No the weeping isn't that bad on mine yet so I can't recall getting the burning oil smell yet. Had that when I first bought the car but that was due to a worn feeder pipe that was leaking I believe. I wouldn't be in a position time-wise to do the work myself if it was within my skillset, hell, I haven't had the time to take my Airbox off yet to check the MAF/MAF seals etc yet and I have been meaning to do that since Monday now.

Our american cousins across the water on RS6.com, being the ultimate DIY's have a solution for replacing the 'valve cover gasket' with out engine pull. 
In this instance our seppo mates are more correct in calling it a 'valve cover gasket' as the RS6 is an OHC engine. better still it could be called an 'ohc cover."
Just be careful 'flexing' the pipe on the dreaded RHD- drivers side.

Might be being thick but from the picture that pipe looks like it has easily reachable clamping/replacement points by the 2 arrows so wouldn't have thought so?

Yeah, can't see the fuss. You have to move it to get the plugs out (see FAQ).
