I couldn't bring myself to strip and gut an E39 M5, it is a lovely car. You'd be needing brakes straight away though and a tad heavy.

The SX200 was on the list (first post) and I haven't completely ruled it out, it's a drift monster too with loads of mods and bits available but you need a turbo to get it to move. It is a contender though, stupid cheap as well.
I've also considered a Supra but manuals are hardish to come by and parts are a bit more pricey. Again, a little heavy so a turbo is needed, they can hold some seriously wide section rear rubber though. I had a mate in Oz that ran a high 9sec Supra, fcuk that thing was dramatic, it used to make your heart race an hour before you got in it. There was always an event every time that car was driven.

RWD track car

There is a MX5 race series, I know of a few guys who run MX5, iv seen there track footage and they do not stick around. So dont rule them out.

Are you going NA? Personally I would. Iv just spent 3.5 on a track car, a Clio 172 cup on ITB this will be prepped to MSA blue book spec to compete in the MSA track day trophy. Power regs are 170bhp per tonne and if forced induction a restricter plate has to be fitted fyi.

Have you done much track day driving before?

Elise would be a good candidate however slightly over budget.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Is a Westfield really a bad idea?
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

I've done a few in track hire cars here and a total of 3 whole days in Australia, raceprep Holden Commodores (VN in '99 and VZ in '07). I see no real point putting the RS6 on the track and I need an outlet. I couldn't give a sh!t if I came last every time I went, as long as I did kill myself or anyone else, that'd be a result.
Any figures on how much it'd cost to run an MX5 through the entire series?

No, it's just not immensely forgiving. Especially in winter, it's not great for the longer journeys either.

Wear a 1960's pilot at thing and a huge scarf and goggles :rocker: . A westfield with trackday tyres would be immense.
I take it you will drive this car to the track then?

Yeah, the C5 RS6 isn't known as the tow car of choice considering the chocolate gearbox. The Fiat Panda might struggle to tow the Westfield too. I think the Westfield is for when I'd have more experience.

I'm gunna start looking at MR2s and MX5s... I wonder how long I can park my new purchase over on the next street before my 'ho will notice that I'm going for early morning drives, without Darth...

If your worried about the turbo on the MR2 there are some chaps selling them with N/A 3,0l V6's in. Loads more torque :biggrin3:

I love drag racing and track racing. I have had many fast cars and below is a short list of the ones most memorable.

MR2 Turbo REV2 (standard) > MR2 Turbo REV1 300HP> MR2 Turbo REV3 450HP (Nick Name Biscuit tin) > Celica GT4 ST205 WRC 300HP > R32 GTR 425HP > Honda Integra DC2 (standard) > EVO GSR 300HP > R32 GTR 450HP

Now on the hunt for an RS6

On board MX5 Championships from Shimmy Racing team. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s--IF2m1 ... r_embedded

I looked into getting one, but fancied a tin tip as I want to enter the MSV TDT.
