Good suggestion, I didn't think you could get them that cheap.

RX8?
Think the RX8's have engine problems. My mate was going to but one but read some horror storie's, Wankle engine's are normally good though

Thery're about 3,500... CAT C/D. I have looked, and I have driven one, they break traction with ease and loads of fun. I'd rather go cheaper and spend more on mods.

RX8... I thought long and hard about these (RX7 too), the Wankle does my head in, it's a love/hate relationship and I can't figure out where I stand. I'd love to put a crate motor (LS1 or 2) into an RX7, that'd do me.

You’re too hard to please, what’s currently in your top three? You have got a top three, haven’t you? You’ve got an abundance of suggestions here, get short listing.

Agreed. Leave the proper money for spending on the beast/other stuff, you can get something that will be a hoot without wasting wonga. If I could be bothered to do track days instead of driving most places like a track I would heavily consider another tubby turbo for the hell of it and strip it out totally.

1. MR2 (NA)
2. "the obvious choice" 328i E46 coupe or sommat
3. MX-5 Mk1

Every way I look at it, the MR2 is the smartest choice.
- mid-engined
- a million mods available
- cheap
- with a turbo I'd like to think it's reliable
- easy to work on
- decent/interesting handling i.e. can be hustled

Honestly, I think stripped out, lowered and hardened you are going to feel like you are Koopa Troopa on crack as you fly around the track. Still have my personal doubts on the speed of the NA being good enough but it is 1 less thing to go wrong.

Snails and turtle shells can be optional extras once my head has caught up with driving a RWD again.

If I had kept the XJR I would have been tempted to gut that and put her on the track just to be ridiculously different. With 425-440hp, rwd and ASC disabled that would have been hilarious but I fear that if it slid off it would collect the crash barriers, spectators behind them and probably a building or 2 behind them before coming to a halt. Was far too nice a car to do that to though. Sadly I used what little money I got from her toward the big-bottomed money pit that I have now ;)

E39 M5? About £5k... You won't have much change left, but you won't need any as it already has 400 BHP, if you really wanted some extra cash though, the interior/satnav etc will be worth loads so you could strip it, I know it's the RS6s main rival, so you would have to keep them apart as I reckon Darth would murder it. But I think it is a good contender as its rear wheel drive has perfectly balanced chassis, 400 BHP and a nice big NA 5.0 V Bastard loving V8. Okay, its heavy, but it will still be fairly chuckable with some ling longs and the traction turned off. They love to rev too.

Amar, with a triple redundant ESP system that you couldn't disable, anything you slap Linglongs on to would be infinitely chuckable :FIREdevil: . Really though, a big arsed M5 for a track car? You don't need anything as monstrously big as that to track it. I think you may be missing the essence of stripped out racing dude?

It doesn't have to be hugely powerful to feel hugely fast and FUN. Also, 5k for something you are going to gut then fork out on roll cage etc etc seems like an awful waste of a car to me. While I wouldn't slum it with some banger racer, I couldn't gut a 5k car like that but hey.

I get the whole stripped out and light racer thing, I really do. But hey, I’m working to Bam’s £6k budget, and when it’s not my money I get all excited like. I thought I’d throw the M5 out there, I didn’t think Bam will go for it but then he did want something that wasn’t that obvious.
