let the R8 run to 5mile range today

Dave, are all the Shell garages in MK open again? Going through Sunday both on the A422 were still shut!

Well I'm back after an 8 mile trip. Tesco and Shell have no 99/V Power, I put in 5.5 litres of 95 RON as was showing 5 miles then drove very slowly to BP and put £45 of ultimate in, I'm showing just over 1/4 tank and 95 a mile range. I didn't want to fill it up all the way as want 99 RON for my remap. Will be on the phone to Tesco tomorrow to find out when they are getting a delivery of T99. Stupid panic buying gits.

Might sound silly, but why not give MRC a call in the morning, ask them to get you some T99? They'll have containers aplenty and it's worth their time helping you out. Then you can motor over there on whatever RON is easiest for you.

It states to only use 98 RON in the manual, I thought Ultimate would be at least that but it's 97. Stu, I've asked Doug if they have T99 in Banbury. Fingers crossed there will be T99 a plenty in three days time.

Response from Tesco customer care
We’re getting regular deliveries of all grades to all our filling stations. While I can’t get an exact date, it should be soon.

Had to settle for a tankful of Texaco 97-RON stuff today. What is going on with Shell??? They seem to be out of everything at the moment!

This subject comes up regularly. It's not true that the manual states to use 98 RON only - what it says is:

We recommend the use of SuperPlus unleaded, 98 RON. In emergencies use normal unleaded, minimum 91 RON. Performance and consumption values were calculated using SuperPlus unleaded (98 RON).

Sorry, yes that is what I meant. In the C5 owners manual it says to only use 95 RON in emergencies, so its not ideal, but I understand that EU law states every car must be able to run on 95 RON.

So I've been round nearly all the Shell stations in West London and everyone has run out of V-Power and are not expecting any deliveries until after the Easter holiday. They can manage to deliver normal unleaded but cant get any V-Power out

I've run my motor on nothing but V-Power since the engine clean some 20k miles ago.

I do hope Shell read these forums because I'd like to pass on a message to them...........THANKS FOR NOTHING :piss: (a loyal customer)

How much do you have left Pad ?

They had a delivery at M25 Jct 21, a couple of days ago.
Also, Hatfield Tesco had loads of their Momentum last night.

I've had to put 3 half tanks of crap in just to keep me going and I've done most of my London trips on the train (better known as 'the infection ward, so may ill people on there)!

I've got another trip tomorrow in to Hatton Garden so that's another train journey  and I fancy a quiet holiday weekend so I'll wait until Tuesday/Wednesday for the good stuff. I know we're the minority wanting this stuff but we do pay a premium for it and feel a little P&ssed off that they not set up to distribute in these circumstances.

I am not surprised they have run out of V-Power although thought a few deliveries would turn up - they probably have a fairly steady demand for it, as you say is a premium product so probably not a lot of switching going on. A load of people who don't normally buy V-Power panic and fill up with it so apart from scheduled deliveries they have tpo make more at a time when the have to replenish all the UL that has run out that people will go elsewhere for...

Have you considered some Octane Booster as a stopgap - is meant to raise octane by 2 or 4 points - think will pick some up as can see this being a problem for a while now.
