popcorntastic thread tbh :jump_clap:

after reading and digesting it seems 2 camps have very narrow views of what constitutes "performance" before i throw in my tuppence worth of opinion, (remember opinions are like assholes, everyone has one but some are full of <beep>) i have been for as long as i could walk, a confirmed petrol head, i have a relevant engineering degree and currently hold the UK landspeed record for a production road legal motorcycle, (with added woosh pah of course).

performance ??

this means so many different things to many different people,
handling is regarded as performance by some
power is regarded as performance by some
how loud the stereo is, seems to be popular down the local car park these days.

each of us have (or should have) a real world test to determine if the "performance" we have paid good ££ actually works in the real world.
for some people this is on the static dyno
for some its 1/4 mile times
for some its skidpan, track or slalom

the fact is all of the above are valid ways to evaluate your "performance" but actually not one of them in isolation will give you a true picture of real world dynamics, the only caveat to that is for track day cars or 1/4 mile drag cars, but i have to assume that we are talking about daily driven, road cars here.

buying a pile of parts for lots of ££ only results in a "pile of parts" the skill is in the fitting, the testing and the driving to extract the best from any given set of "performance" adders.

if you buy any given upgrade based on marketing, or what your mate said down the pub, then beware.

i'd like to think that we are a bit more clued up than the local Halfrauds mob and take relevant real world data from several sources and not act like sheep,

some of the above posts are so full of untruths, and bullshit that its not even funny, but each and every side of the argument have very valid points to make and remember that "performance" like art is in the eye of the beholder.

yes sonny I ran it before the tts it doesnt come close. pes are too stubborn to change there less than average cooling system which is why they won't compete anymore. there cooling set up is so inadequate when compared to tts and apr, they had these plans for bigger superchargers but they wouldn't change anything else which makes no sense to me. for an r8 kit stassis make 700hp using the tvs 1900 and i'm sure tts are considering making one i've all ready said i'd like to buy the r8 for them to develop on

The name of the thread is "Is supercharging worth it?", please start another thread so we can ignore it in a neater manner. This thread has already been through the off-topic wringer.

If the price of the kit was 2x cheaper i'd consider. Sure alot of work went into desiging the intake manifold and tune, but still it doesn't justify the price considering the price of the hardware.

Think your got to consider the r and d work plus the cost of a Cnc machine etc. It's a great kit at a great price IMO and I've had three supercharger kits overall

TTS GB anyone?
dont pg ive already got a bad case of supercharger deficiency syndrome.
id like to charge me rs4 and keep it a couple more years then find a nice 59-10 plate v8 r8 and swap the kit onto that and maybe add the body kit of the v10 r8 :biggrin3:
it would be nice if there was a deal to be had!. :bigblink: .

when you think about the price, in the context of what else is offered, they're in the right spot

I'll speak in dollars as 3 of the other kits are/were american

VF - claimed gains of 100 whp and delivered nothing...never even dyno'd the car or anything. Project scrapped.
PES - claimed gains of about 100 whp and delivered half of those gains. Original price $15,000 (9500 pounds). New price $13,000. They've shifted to Eaton M112 superchargers on the S5 and I assume RS4...not sure on price but gains should be better.
APR - claimed gains about 100 whp and delivered on those gains with dynos, pbox, 1/4 mile etc. original price $18,995 (12,000 pounds) (and they sold a few dozen at that). New price $14,995.
MTM - claimed gains of about 100 whp and delivered on those gains with dynos, pbox. Original price $40,000 (30,000 euros). New price $30,000 (they'll negotiate to that)
TTS - claimed gains of about 150 whp and delivered on those gains with dynos, pbox, 1/4 mile. Price $20,000 (13,000 pounds).

TTS is priced very fairly to be honest. There are 2 more kits in the mail that are expected to deliver good gains but they're a ways away from sharing the price (let alone selling to the public)

I think you've missed my point on the reasons why people would buy this kit and the marketing around it.
For that increase in power, I've spent the same and it's still unfinished.
