Has anyone ordered one...?
Re: Has anyone ordered one...?
True but when I saw the B7 I knew I wanted one and paid £25k over my S4 value to get one. I don't know I would do that with the B8 RS4 let alone £50K.

If they ever built a 4dr saloon version I may be interested as I prefer the saloon to the estate.

535dboy - let us know what it's like bro! P_G - I totally agree, the math doesn't work out, unfortunately I think Audi have sold out the RS brand, all I want is a different body kit so as to differentiate from the S4 in the B8 chassis. I won't be in for this one but the Maseratti GranTurismo (4.7 obviously) is still on my list.

Not sure I agree - it's exactly that kind of question.D_K wrote:P_G ... it didnt really matter what Audi did to the B8 RS 4 ... its never going to be worth £50k more than a B7 ... those kind of economics just wont work ... its a brand new car
I've bought plenty of "new model" cars of existing ones I already had.
The problem with the b8 rs4 is that it's more of the same... to me it's more a mid life refresh than a new model.
I think with the same performance and TT engine it would have tempted some as the driving experience would have been different.
Re: Has anyone ordered one...?
The Masser is a great car and if money were of little object in the equation I'd have one but for me is a big beast of a car for what interior and particularly boot space you get and if you think Audi servicing / parts costs are bad....TimDogg wrote:535dboy - let us know what it's like bro! Wonder what the repayments would be if I was to trade in my B7. Would I need a mortgage??

I think the crux of the matter will be is it really £35-40k better than a mint used B7?
It's nice to have a new car and all that but in this case I will wait. One of the reasons I just spent a load of cash on my B7 was that the b8 is not enough of a step change IMWO.

a lot depends on the price and the bolt ons, it could be in the 65-75k range ...rs4blacked wrote:Wonder what the repayments would be if I was to trade in my B7. Would I need a mortgage??

I agree P-G, it just does not look at meaty as all of our B7's! I think the new A4 line looks alright, but doesn't grab me, it's got bit of a round arse. The RS4 B7 makes me salivate and has done for years. The RS4 B8 would not make me spend another £50k on top of the beast I already have! Even if I did have the cash.
What will the B8 do for the prices of our trusty old B7's then everyone? It's a different market though, a few of you will maybe upgrade, but will you really...
Maybe the saloons will hold more value now that the B8 is only an Avant.. ten a penny those Avants!

Re: Has anyone ordered one...?
I was very sceptical, but then I drove a B8 S4 and it was a lovely car.
The only problem I have with putting any money down yet is if they base the dynamics on the RS5, then I know I'm going to feel short changed and wish I'd kept my B7
The current plan is wait to see them in UK showrooms, get a decent test drive in where I can put some miles into one, and then, and only then decide if it's worth the outlay over what I have and love
In that respect, then we're talking a year away anyway, so time will tell..
Personally, I think the Red they've shown with the nasty silver grill is a pretty nasty combo, so I'd go for black, black optics (hopefully inc grill) and silver wheels/mirrors

Re: Has anyone ordered one...?
So long it is not over 5 years old when you come to do a deal, my dealer won't even consider p/xing my RS4 against a new one because it is too old. The base will be arounf £55-57 and on the Geneva stand they reckoned with essential options [dynamic steering + torque vectoring / sports diff + bits (buckets)] you'll easily add £5-10k on so minimum £60K for one, more likely £65K or even £70K with ceramicsrs4blacked wrote:Wonder what the repayments would be if I was to trade in my B7.
