I will go and try it now. There is a station that I can just about pick up with the longer antenna. i'll see if stubby can manage it.

OK, I'm impressed. It picked up that station at least as well as the other antenna, and I didn't even get the car out of the garage. I'd say that was a good result.

hi,my stubby ariel has turned up today but i cant get the old one off i think the rubber is turning around the threaded bit.i'm scared of butchering it off in case i break something.any ideas?.

If the arial is toast then you could cut the rubber away from the base with a stanley knife to expose the metal thread underneath. Then you can use some needle nose pliers and penetrating oil to unscrew the antenna.

Either that or grab the bottom of the aerial in some pliers hard and unscrew it that way. The aim being to put pressure on the metal bit inside and turn that.

With respect for 38 euros its not much more "stubby" than the original! IMO of course. Then I suppose girth is important as well. :)
