Sooooo, nothing about the 1/4 mile then?rs4blacked wrote:For me having a supercharger fitted would

2. Allow quick and safe overtaking manoeuvres where safely possible.

Feck NO, I see supercharging as a way to improve the drive-ability of the car, couldn't give a monkeys about the 1/4 mile time.bam_bam wrote:Sooooo, nothing about the 1/4 mile then?rs4blacked wrote:For me having a supercharger fitted would

Would you consider a 1/4 mile time when making a decision on which kit to buy? Is it important?
Yes.bam_bam wrote:Sooooo, nothing about the 1/4 mile then?rs4blacked wrote:For me having a supercharger fitted would

Is it really that important?
If another kit posted a better 1/4 mile time but didn't rate very well in the questions above, then would people flock to it?
A 1/4 mile time just isn't going to factor very heavily in the minds of people buying this mod. Of course I could be wrong and sakimano could be the catalyst for everyone turning their fast Audi's into drag cars, could happen...

The car was stock interior ect and had 3/4 of a tank of fuel in it. He was still struggling with the start. None of us here are really 1/4 mile guys so you will have to excuse the lack of technique. I can't seem to upload the photo of the time slip from my phone tonight so il just post up the details of the best run.
Run 1. Rt=0.8834 6' 1.8658 330' 5.1272. 1/8et 7.7094 mph 95.29. 1000' et 9.9010 1/4 et 11.7131 mph 124.76
If he could Lern to launch it propperly then we are fairly confident there should be a 11.5 or 11.4 in there somewhere. Need to go back and try again after some practice.
sakimano wrote:GREAT <beep> TIME!!!!!
MPH of 124 is very very strong
60' is decent at 1.86 but leaves a tenth on the table
330' time is frankly not so good...must have been a bad 1-2 shift and or 2-3 shift. For perspective dan@jhm ran with tune/exhaust/clutch 12.29...with an identical 330 foot time. This car should be in the 4seconds at 330'.
Shows how strong the car is the rest of the way...3rd and 4th gear fly. Another metric in dragracing is 1.55x the 1/8th et will often = the 1/4 et. Your 1/8 et is decent...but 1.55 x 7.70 is 11.9...so again it shows your car left a ton on the table (relatively) in the first half. Probably a result of someone driving a customer's car....not wanting to rape it. The 2nd eighth time is indicstive of a car that can get much deeper...although centrifugal superchargers are top-end focused so could be a by product.
Fyi not even the vaunted b5 s4 or rs4 has matched that MPH on pump gas.
Congratulations TTS and MRC!
Once again, great time guys, and THANK YOU for posting up a time. Get your timeslips in the thread, and hopefully some video...
Which raises the question who cares? The majority of people laying down money on this kit won't make a decision based on the quarter mile. Another question: so now the car has run a quarter to your liking, does that mean the dyno results were right or wrong? Not that it matters, again. These measurements are subjective.sakimano wrote:bam_bam wrote:And what if Doug can't get the car launched, as a result, has a less than stellar ET but an ok 1/4 and trap? At first I thought you were just being malicious and ignorant...but now I think you're just a moron...
1. a quarter mile is a great measurement of how the car is accelerating
2. a quarter mile's MPH still gives us a great indication of how the car is doing even if the driver doesn't squeeze every last inch out of the car, thus objections to potential for 'driver error' etc. are unfounded, especially if we see a video of the run pointing to the driver's aptitude
3. a quarter mile shows how well the tuner is helping the car make power, and how he helps it put the power to the ground via driving dynamics (i.e. if it's strong 'in gear', but flops coming into a new gear, your 1 gear pull is useless)
NOBODY wants to turn these cars into drag cars, just as NOBODY wants to turn them into dyno-only cars (but people dyno them all the time to test them).
We want to measure their performance in a fashion that allows us to evaluate the car in a bunch of gears, at a bunch of speeds, with lots of data along the way, measuring both power and driving dynamics. We also want to compare it to other kits/mods/cars. There are plenty of tests to put a kit through before you buy it, but a quarter mile time is a GREAT way to remove ANY doubt about what it can do (or can unfortunately shine a spotlight on what it CAN'T do, as happened to the PES kits).
Only people like you have trouble with this concept. You just want to complain and bitch and moan because a bunch of people don't agree that letting your Audi on a dragstrip devalues it in your elitist mind. The driving force behind TTS (horsepower) is a dragstrip maniac. He has a 9 second motorcycle and has been excited as hell to get the TTS S5 and RS4 on the strip to show the world how well his kit performs. Why don't you go <beep> complain to him about that? Why not tell him he's a troglodyte who doesn't understand Audis
FOR THE RECORD...dannyRS4's TTS/MRC Supercharged Audi RS4 went to the dragstrip today driven by an MRC employee, and KICKED SOME ASS!
11.71 @ 124.7 MPH
...faster MPH than any B5 S4/RS4 or C5 RS6 on pump gas EVER.
Here's a couple of posts from audirevolution.net where deltaV dropped the news.
