Does a bear <beep> in the woods? Best mod IMO gives you all you need in one massive swoop! As for the gtr they aren't that special i'll beat one 0-60 up the strip and in gear acceleration plus I have a massive boot and can take passengers comfortably :) ! I don't think there would be much between me and stage 4 stock turbo gtr plus gtr is lazy if I had that gearbox just how quick would my car be?

Not forgetting its pretty much a 2 seater...

I know lots have left the RS4 for a GTR but I think they are all mental... id rather supercharge then drive one of them!
My view too. Gtr is a fine car but has 100k car running costs.
My other concern is anything on the gtr is very expensive to fix - I suspect the reason prices are dropping is down to cars now being outside factory warranties.
They get attention 'cause they are massive! Saw a new gtr next to the previous (which wasn't exactly slim) and the difference is shocking.

For me the rs4 ticks the boxes as a day to day/family wagon and fun toy.
For a fun weekend car/track car I think there are better options than a gtr - and it's not always about outright performance. For example I know for a fact I have more fun hussling a decent setup Elise down a country road than a gtr (done it and tbh I would say the Elise was quicker too)
However if you don't need the practicality then the gtr isn't a bad choice.

 Bloody hell, thought the insurance would get hiked a lot more than that. What are you gonna do with the old one if you change to TTS charger? :bigblink:

As above .... if you want pure speed ... adrenaline .... cheap thrills ... and a feeling like NO other ... buy a bike. 13K+ will buy you something insanly quick .... which will depreciate minimally .... infact 2K would buy you something with 9/10ths the performance that will only depreciate the price of a tank of juice. Even better .... track time is pretty much half the price .... 30 quids of juice would last the day and a set of rubber is only about 250. Its a ball ache to get the licence but its well well well worth it . But .... this isn't a bike forum so ...

If i had the cash .... i'd almost certainly charge. The car you get as a result looks an amazing machine. Yes it will depreciate and yes it is 'getting on a bit' .....BUT ... that engine is sublime, the looks are stunning and the noise ,,, well .... 2 years later and im still smirking all the way to work :)

Yes .... a GTR may be quicker but IMO it looks just too chavy and well ... isn't a V8. ATM there is nothing that would tempt me to sell ... even if i had twice the budget ... IF my situation was different ... and i had a lovely little garage with i nice big driveway then the one car to tempt would be a Mark 1 996 GT3 .... (oh ... and a GT2) but i dont ..... + kids maybe on the way so i'll need an estate type car soon enough anyway .... so might as well just keep the beast an butter up the missus :)

how funny it is to to slag a gtr when you don't have one..ive had an rs4 and now have a gtr, so best placed to make an honest judgement i think..rs4 is a great car and i loved mine for the 14 months i had it but dare i say i got bored as i do with most my cars quickly!

I always find it amusing people commenting on cars that they haven't even bought or driven for sustained periods of time..I find it difficult to find anything negative about the GTR anywhere

A standard GTR can be tuned to 580HP for less than £1100 via y pipe and ecutek or for <£3000 you can get circa 630HP!! Much less than youd have to spend on an RS4..

OP go and test drive a GTR and let us know how you get on..believe me you'l end up hankering after one just as i did (and i looked at a 997tt too) but ended up buying the nissan!

I've driven several stock and tuned gtr's highest being 625bhp and running 10.64 second 1/4 mile and they didn't tick any boxes for me at all they are ugly and unpractical. Never drove the new version as I've never felt the 'urge' to I can honestly say I'll never buy a gtr

But I don't need to drive one when the looks alone put me off, it just does nothing for me, going fast isn't the only thing I'm looking for, but even if it was I wouldn't want to be doing it in a GTR

They just dont look or feel like there price tag, performance is all they offer over an rs4,they dont even come in a decent choice of colours,im not totally ruling out owning one but only when there cheaper so as to justify them not hitting the spot in so many areas for me personally

Supercharge it! You will have no regrets! As for the GTR, I love it! I think it is a sweet looking and performing car. That being said, the electronics make the car very efficient, but take the fun out of it. I completely agree with the comments around bikes. There is no bigger thrill than the acceleration of a sport bike! They are the <beep>! But, for most of us, our guardian angles can't fly as fast as the bike will go, therefore, your luck, is guaranteed to run out sooner than later. I have been riding from the age of 5 and I have the list of titanium body parts to prove it. I love them, I will never stop riding, but I try and convince any friends or family that are interested in riding, not to buy a bike.

I don't think anybody has slagged off the gtr- a mighty fine car that i certainly wouldnt criticise anybody for buying but it just doesn't tick every box for ever person.
I've personally spent several days on track with one and it is a marvel of technology but not for me.
My ideal track cars are ones that you feel moving when you do things - sure the gtr is quick and easy to scare the beJesus out of you but when fun is the overriding thing I would pick another car even if slower (which the 211 isn't anyway ;))
For the road... Well feck all room in the back kills it for me ;)

I was close to getting a GT-R decided to go for the the B7 RS4 then get that charged the main reason I was put off is the amount of things that could go wrong the prices of service parts t for the GT-R and worst of all being envyed by a 9 year old school boy who had driven one on his PS3

It is - there is no other audi that comes close to being as fast and well handling in one package.

Comparing to other makes - they are not Audis so not comparison.
