You see, now that's exactly what I wasn't thinking :D! by effect, I take it that we might be talking about what would most likely be prolonged increased temps to the sensors due to less being able to radiate away? Do you think it would be that drastic? Or just that the increased temps would throw things out of kilter? Could that not be mapped out? Surely I can't be the first person to ever want to heatwrap the cats? Could I add any more questions marks to this post? What is the meaning of life?

the only thing that puts me off wrap is that in the long term it can hold moisture and therefore rot the exhaust. Yes there is the point that if the car is hot the wrap will stay dry, but what if the car doesn't get hot enough to dry the wrap out.

Shop,
Have egt sensor on my golf not had any problems so far and it is running the standard managment from the donor leon cupra.

I have heard the moisture thing before but I had mine on for at least 2 years and experienced no moisture problems whatsoever and in the case of the rs6, it has the undertray protecting from spray a hell of a lot and again, if you don't wrap past the point where the pipework bends to follow the floor, I don't see the issue I am sure you know this well but there are a lot of different heatwraps out there and I have experience with a few different ones. DEI make the best heatwrap I have ever used and the difference in quality is night & day compared to a lot of the others.

Probably won't interest anyone but I have a contact over here that has always done good prices for me over the years.

Not sure how water would be a problem. When it's hot, I don't see the wrap even becoming wet.

I have wrap on my bike exhaust, when it has rained it gives off steam almost from the start for a few minutes and thats it.

There may be other issues, but water isn't going to be one of them. You could also use their special paint to protect from water projections..

NOt sure about the egt sensors, but don't they die if your mixture is too lean and your egts too high?

I honestly can't say as haven't had that problem before that I can remember and she got remapped after every real change to the engine. Also, she ran very rich by default so the lean issue would have never presented itself. Tough as old boots, about the only thing she ate was MAF sensors I think.

Why? Did you have an oiled air filter?

Not really. I used to run the ITG filters for a while but I fitted a wing mounted APS cold airfeed kit which really wasn't oiled at all. Classic Imprezas just had a taste for MAFs, can't remember if certain ones were worse than others now but I went through at least 1 a year.
