As it stands the new RS4 would get spanked not just by the M3 and C63, but also by the S6 and S8 when they get the 4 lt TT engine. If it is DSG only (and nothing wrong with DSG but prefer manual) then I can't see there being a huge audience for the car.

As I mentioned a while back, I doubt the 4.0 V8 with twin turbo plumbing fits in the A4 engine bay. 450 bhp will be entertaining - that is C5 RS6 power after all, but in a significantly lighter chassis

Found this:

Image

Looks good but too low.. may be a render, may be not.

Read somewhere, that RS4 will be identical to RS5 - V8 4.2 FSI with 450hp with an S-tronic. No manual.

This is my view, I dont think the new one will be anything like the B7, the B7 weighs in at 1650kg Kerb weight thats 250hp per ton, now the Rs5 weighs in at just over 1800kg thats 246hp per ton...
So of course the avant will weigh more than a two door coupe, bringing in the weight to close to 2 tons... or am I wrong
I think audi have lost the plot a bit, think Id rather by a B8 S4 and mod the V6 Supercharger....

I think youre wrong. the weight of the RS4 b8 will be almost the same as S4 + few dozens of kilos for the V8. imho

Will have to wait and see but how can a 2 door coupe weigh more than a 4 door...
and according to http://www.fastestlaps.com/cars/audi_s4_avant.html
The new s4 avant is already 1779KG without the big V8 and torsen Quattro...
SO i still think personally its gonna be a tank

But both the RS4 and the RS5 share the B8 platform so it's hard to see where the avant will save weight where the coupe didn't. No manual, oh dear. Three pedals could've redeemed it somewhat. I assume it'll have some sort of sports diff as standard or the torque vectoring from the '5.

So unless there has been some major revamp of the Drc its going to be an Rs5 essentially? Ive only driven one on p-zeros and in terrible conditions but my Rs4 was more planted and abke to carry more speed effortlessly,s tronic gearbox is great but but it needs to be when mated to the higher revving engine,if they havent addressed the handling before the release of the 4 then i think there in trouble, tyres can ruin a car though and my 4 has more power than the 5 so perhaps a little unfair to judge at this stage,i like the looks of the photoshopped car above, anything along those lines but a bit more aggresive arches would look awesome.

That looks mean as f**k, BMW have a got a tough job on their hands to turn this ugly pile of turd into something special.

Thought the E90 M3 looked very dull, this one will probably look even worse.
