Buzzing sound from dash

Hi all,

New to the forum and rs4 ownership, I have picked up an 2006 rs4 saloon in sprint blue, since having I have noticed a very quiet buzzing sound from the back of the dash on the drivers side, is this a normal sound these cars make? Trying to work out weather the sound is just standard on Audi as this is the first I have had.

I have just booked it for service, I did mention it to the service staff and they looked at me strange! it will be checked on service, but it isn't for another 2 weeks.

If a very quiet buzzing sound can be heard, I recommend that the Sport button is pressed - the roar from the pipes should mask it!

Have this exact same issue. Sound comes straight out from instrument cluster area like its the cluster itself or something directly behind/around it. I initially thought the same as rick_rs4 as I have much expierience with industrial relays and contactors and they both have a tendancy to create a buzzing noise when they are dirty or going bad but have yet to look further into it or have the Shop take a look. Also to back up that diagnosis some mornings when I go out especially when its colder the noise will stop for a minute or two before resuming and once the car is warmed up a bit. Would really like to solve this as well. Hopefully a simple cheap relay and not the whole cluster or something.

Car went in for service as planned, when I picked the car they suggested it gets booked back in for the buzzing sound, worse case it was the complete speedo clocks, I guessed at this stage is was worth checking the cost of this part before doing anything, the parts, labour and vat is 865.04. I will be booking it in cause it's getting on my nerves tho it only gets used at the weekends.

Anyone can shed any light on a slightly smaller issue, I had my wheels refurbished by lepsons, Driven the car away to find the tyre pressure warning light comes on, pop to a garage to check pressures as I using the machine I am finding it very difficult to put any air in the tyres, its letting air out even tho some tyres are onless that 20 psi, I manged one of four, am I being completed stupid or is there something I am doing in correctly?

You need to reset the TPMS using the DIS so it knows that the wheel sensors have been moved.

That's really unlikely, the speedos are all electronic not cable driven.

Could the buzzing sound be a battery powered tooth brush, or maybe a vibrater left in the car by the previous owner?

Stepper motors used to move the needles could make the noise but you'd expect the gauges to show some symptoms.

And the stepper motors are such low power it's extremely unlikely that any noise they make would be audible above the other noises in a moving car.
