The RS6 of motorbikes...

Post by SteveH » Fri Jan 06, 2012 10:26 pm

Have posted on ere before about my "RS6" bike... (1700cc MT01: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlRrmNkY ... e=youtu.be

Took my bike for its MOT today (a whole £25 for a bike MOT :thumb: ), and for a brief moment it failed Image to be told that for the princely sum of a whole £3 it would pass!? it had to have a tiny red reflector added to the plate for it to be compliant... wish everything in life was as easy as that.
Present:...

Nice ..... but I don't get how it's an RS6 of bikes.

It's not the most powerful or the most comfortable or the best at covering huge distance all of which are RS6 can argue it's case for.

Oh and since the RS6 is quattro it's happy in all weathers. I can't imagine having to clean your bike if it got wet and mucky ! :bigblink:

unnecessarily powerful & unnecessarily expensive & surprisingly agile for what it is... there's always a more powerful or more comfortable choice ;)

Maybe it's that in our minds we choose bikes to go along with our cars?

I consider my Blackbird to be like my old S4 :

Loads of torque so you can just potter around in lazy mode all day or choose to work it and unleash it. Both give terrible mpg if doing stop/start but on a journey will maintain better and reasonable mpg at a constant 100mph. Both go along the sport / tourer mind sets and both can get you banged up for long periods !

No problems with oil usage on my B6 S4 :bigblink:

The reason it went was the loss of coolant due to a defect in the engine block which Audi would only cover 50% of.... but that's another story.

Any more peeps got bike / car combos?

Scotty, like you I never had a problem with oil usage , and it would seem had a simalar problem with coolant loss from the engine block.

Going off topic (sorry) but my problem was :

I went to get some coolant top up and the parts guy said you shouldn't need it coz it's a sealed system. Fair point so I got them to check the car at the next service and they found no issue. Did this again at the next service all during the warranty period and no fault found.

Then a couple of years outta warranty and at one service they found that coolant was seeping from a porous part on the block. Nothing massive but an issue. Everyone agreed it was a manufacturing defect. Audi offered 40% of a new engine and my dealer another 10% leaving me to find about £5k. I argued it was a pre-existing condition that the dealer had failed to locate and despite agreeing they said the offer was a generous good will offer since I'd not had it service by Audi dealers. They thought this coz my dealer hadn't uploaded my services to Audi HQ. They did and I approached again but there was no movement.

I decided to get shot of it in case the probem grew worse (unlikely was the verdict) plus I had a young family and was doing track days on two wheels instead of four by then. A saleman offered a px at full value disregarding the issue so I chopped it in against an A4. The dealer then put it straight out to auction.
