Depends how you drive it mate. I normalyy get on the motorway and stick at around 80. Look far enough ahead to plan lane changes and you wont have to slow down. The 23mpg over-all included a fair bit of blasting down country lanes too. :nodder:

If it's any consolation I've never seen better than 22mpg (real) and that was driving at 75 with no stops or starts. I think a lot of people rely on the DIS for fuel economy figures which is optimistic. Mine is 15% optimistic. Must adjust it one of these days.

On my last tank, mostly motorway driving with a couple of blasts I got 19 mpg and I am happy with that. I know my car is spot on - this is just what the cars do.

I know what your saying that the dis isnt perfect but if we all go by the dis them it does give some comparison.

Mine shows an avg of 25 ish on 50 mile trip to SE Kent, mostly motorway at steady 80 or so but with some town driving either end, not sure exactly how accurate that reading is though!

How do you adjust the DIS?

You can adjust it with the Vagcom. I'll do it on mine later and post the procedure.

If you want to know your real fuel consumption and compare it to the fantasy DIS number then make sure you reset your trip counter and DIS consuomption at every fill. Then each time you fill up multiply the number of liters you put in by 0.22 and divide the number of miles you've done since the last fill by number that you get. Compare the real and DIS and that'll tell you how optimistic the DIS is.

How do you guys get that kind of consumption? I regularly do Aberdeen to Chester (and back again!!) and only ever see a return of 19.5 mpg; best I've had is 20.8 mpg. I need to stop around Preston/Lancaster to fill up.

I try to only ever use Tesco99. On the run upto Scotland I had to stop off for fuel and had to put in BP Ultimate crap. Not only was it 10p a litre more it's only 97 Octane and I only managed around 290 miles on the tankful. So I would say that having the right fuel and trying to keep momentum going helps along the way.

My weekly commute is about 60 miles a day and I can do the week on a single tank, that inlcudes a little town driving. I'm happy with that.

849 - that's pretty much how many drinks that I've made and handed out over the Christmas period to all of our visitors as we had our first baby just before Christmas, which clearly established us as a compulsory family attraction for the festive season.

Also, aligns with probably how many nappies and baby grows purchased.

And every one a gem, Sir!!

And congrats on the baby - I've read that it's good to get them accustomed to loud roars and high G forces from the earliest weeks - so you know what to do!!

Small world... Mine is nos 273 in black and I also took the trip up north and stayed in plockton not far from syke, i also went to the isle of Skye too that week - i went to portree - what a great mountain road that is!! Possibly one of the best scenic roads I've done.
griz has done a lot of work on my car to get it spot on. Miltek decat system to name a few, stiffer roll bars... Griz thinks pushing 530-550 bhp now. Certainly v good. Not as quick as my main toy - but good enough for a family car. I got massively caught out in the snow on a82 on route to fort William.... Made me chuckle as i watched a merc and bm stationary on a hill - wheels giving it rock all whilst fighting with traction controls. Made me appreciate why I choose RS6 over another m5 (4wd and snow being one of them). hadn't expected to test the rs6 in snow so early into my ownership - I had bloody awful 130miles of heavy snow to tackle - with some steep up hills and very nervous descents... No mobile reception, kids in car, no sand or shovel, pitch black, no gritters.... Car was absolutely fine but my nerves were shot to bits ... Especially by the speeds the scotts travel in snow in buses and lorries. I pulled over to create some yellow snow and stepped on the road and went arse over tit - I then realised how icy the roads were and just how good the rs6 was doing ... And how dangerous the Buses and lorries were ....

I cant say I'm seeing 20 + mpg. Perhaps it's the remap, but if I take it steady 70-80 then I'm into 19-20mpg. I recon 360 to a tank. My only comments from my first major 1000 mile road trip - its a bit thirsty compared to m5 / 997 turbo. Also it might be a side affect of remapped gearbox, but if accelerate in 5th, without stamping on accelerator , but instead wanting to accelerate harder - it will often downshift to 4th. it then storms into action, which isn't really what I wanted it to do. Certainly wakes you up! Especially the kids.... On route back south I tested some of the top end boundaries on m6 past Glasgow - around 1:30 am and found myself with a very empty motorway for an hour - had same problem when accelerating in 5th however it kept dropping into 4th which meant it was running close to rev limit - I was merely cruising - be it quick and not looking for flat out acceleration which would warrant a downshift - just wanting to maintain steady fast pace - dropping down into 4th 2-3 times woke the wife up... And Say no more..

It is however an excellent long distance cruiser, very comfortable - made an 8.5 hr journey into 6hrs and I love driving it - the Miltek system sounds great too. Not too loud for motorway cruising and round town, and at full song - its perfect...
I'm not sure about Corning ability - I think m5 is vastly better... But you can't have everything - I would have been stranded on a hill would have run out fuel in the m5 - petrol stations are long distances apart - and closed on a night.

I presume you mean in tiptro. It's not right. It means your TCU hasn't been mod'd correctly or at all. The stock TCU will do this when the ECU sends it torque calculations that the TCU thinks it can't handle. Speak to MRC or Viper about getting an appropriate TCU.
