UNFAIR WARRANTY COVER

Post by stuartbarriskell » Tue Nov 22, 2011 12:59 pm

Car is in Glasgow Audi getting some warranty work carried out just now, feel some of the following is unfair. I purchased my car july this year with Audi warranty..

1. Front headlamp badly misted up, Glasgow Audi advise that factory is aware and that it doesnt come under warranty as it will clear with normal use when lights are on ???? there is a memo from H/O to this effect, I will request a copy of it. I can drive my car for hours and it's still misted.

2. Glovebox requires a new slow close damper unit, they refuse stating that this is classed as trim and is not covered, total copout IMO.

Anyone experience the same..

Cheers..

I steer clear of manufacture warranties or approved cars now as heard so many issues / stories regardless of brand be it Audi, BMW, Mercedes especially if it's something like a Marshall / Vindis / Styner Group they all wash there hands of any responsibility.

I feel your pain, your issues as far as I can see are warranty issues.

I use warrantydirect.co.uk costs me £760 a year, I had a puncture and they replaced the tyre under warranty. They even cover the parts on your MOT if it fails. Highly recommend never had any issues with claims as they cover the amount up to the value of the car cheque comes through very quickly. £760 a year or pay £3000 - £5000 more for an approved car where you get issues claiming under warranty is a no brainer.

That said these dealers shouldn't be screwing people like you around, they're jeopardising future sales and it's bad business with word of mouth going around. It's a joke.

based on your explanation i am not surprised you got this response - not to say it is correct however.
Trim is a classic excuse and a seal is probably the fault with the headlamp, again a perishable item so not covered. I would be getting at the dealer you bought it from rather than Audi warranty (Mondial).
BTW Glasgow Audi have a bad reputation with Mondial. They failed on several attempts to repair my seat bolster and it got to the point where even though it was covered under the warranty they refused to ok any further work. I was told directly by the Mondial rep that they have had problems with Glasgow making excessive claims before.

The headlamps on my 335D kept misting, BMW said the same thing. They said it was normal so I pointed out the other 30 cars on their forecourt didn't have misted headlights, they replaced them under warranty in the end.

Thanks for the responses, that warranty sounds pretty good Andy. i'll check it out when mine ends.

Just spoke to the tech at Glasgow, Audi, Audi have a 10-15 min clear time on the headlamp unit, mine is like hours. So I'm gonna pursue that same as Amar..

Interesting comments on Glasgow....V... Mondial, Scottie... bet they have ripped the arse out previous claims, now the punter suffers if thats the case.

The head tech at BMW kept the car overnight, took a photo of it before he left at 6PM and then again in the morning around 9AM, and sent them to HQ. They then authorised for two brand new headlights to be fitted. It also had to have new Xenon control units and all sorts fitted as after they dropped the car off the headlights failed completly. Apparently it ended up costing them £4k! I also did about 1000 miles in their courtsey car too.

The glovebox damper is a known fault on the A4/S4, if it seizes then the hinge for the glovebox breaks so a £12 damper results in a £160 repair bill as a new glovebox cover is required.

Happened on my B7 S4 and was not covered under warranty so suggest a bit of silicon lubricant to free it up before something breaks.

Damper is a well known fault, they will not replace under warranty cos it's TRIM.. debateable to say the least. Nor will the sort out my misted front light, classed as a buggered seal... WTF...

You couldn't have put your car into a worse dealer Glasgow Audi are bloody terrible! I walked away from a deal on an r8 due to there customer service and knowledge and that was me dealing with the two 'specialist' r8 salesman! Poor dealership Ayr or Stirling seam to be the best up here

The glovebox is a very common and Audi documented fault with both B6 and B7 A/S/RS4's and I have had it replaced on my S4 twice and RS4 once after they tried to lubricate the hinge without success. This should not cost you a penny, even on an aftermarket warranty. You'd be chepaer doing it yourself as it is IIRC only 4 bolts that secires the entire unit to the dash but that is not the point.

I don't have misting on the headlamp on the RS4 but do have it on the wife's A2 and the same stance is taken. If you are thinking of modifying your RS4 take it to Revolution and the will crack open and reseal it properly if you don't get anywhere with them.

But TBH take your car elsewhere, that sort of attitude and service is shocking.

Totally agree, read this.... long story short, I gave them a £250 holding deposit at end of June for a B7 Avant they were supposedly getting in which was on their site at 30 thou on the clock, price was £32k, to be told it had 36 thou odd and was an error on the site... agreed verbally a lower figure with them... Waited 2 weeks to find out it wasn't happening, asked for refund whilst i purchased same at Southampton Audi. Who by the way are a bunch of fuckin diddies as well.

Anyhow..5 phone calls over 4 weeks to the salesman..who never returned any of the calls, resulted in me jumping on my bike one day and waiting on him returning from a test drive, as I waited got chattin too an elderly couple who were in to buy a new allroad (like 40k or whatever) and were waiting on being seen, they walked out cos of the pish service.. after 40 mins he never showed and I gave up and left too.

Eventually got my money back about 2 weeks later after a threatening call... I'm self employed BTW, maybe this just magnifys how bad the service was, but no matter what, it should never be that bad..

Atrocious

My brothers is in at Glasgow Audi getting some recall work done as the previous owners hadnt bothered. One of his front struts is knackered and they are replacing 2 units half price (about £650 for both) His is the black Avant. Unfortunately his car is 3 months out the years good will gesture on the suspension. 58K on the clock. Only went into Glasgow Audi as its accross the road from him.

Especially with cars like the RS4 it's always worth going a few miles extra to a garage that knows what they are doing... which most (but not all) Audi dealers do NOT.
