VAGCOM vs. VAS5054
VAGCOM vs. VAS5054
Any thoughts?
Someone on another site has said it's much easier to use, more powerful and safer.
It's also menu driven so you don't have to remember half a billion block codes.

Yes PBJ, I know how to use Google so I can find the block level codes.posterboyj wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.r ... tions.html
Maybe I'll sum it up for you. Has anyone used VAS? Apparently it's what Audi stealers use.

You must be retarded, you ask for an opinion so I gave it.bam_bam wrote:Yes PBJ, I know how to use Google so I can find the block level codes.posterboyj wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.r ... tions.html

It is software which each Audi dealership pays a licence to use. The alternative is to download the software and buy a dongle from China to get it to work like ; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V19-VAS-5054A ... 20be87a251
Personally I have used both and prefer VAGCOM

No, you moron. You gave me a list of search results that looks exactly like this:posterboyj wrote:You must be retarded, you ask for an opinion so I gave it.bam_bam wrote:Yes PBJ, I know how to use Google so I can find the block level codes.posterboyj wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.r ... tions.html

Would you like to take the time to explain how the above is actually an opinion? Breathe calming now and use your words. You don't have to go deep, nothing too strenuous, if you're not comfortable then please, feel free to break your post into a two-parter... if that helps.
Yes, I asked for an opinion and yes you clearly cannot explain yourself, at all. Comprehension is the cornerstone of communication, try it sometime... in fact, scratch that, I take that recommendation back, you just may expose too much of your winning personality.
Question: are you the kind of person that asks a large group of people (e.g. a nightclub) to have sex with you and then when someone says "errrrm, you're a bit weird but OK, I'm hard up". You promptly ask them to produce a complete list of sexual positions available? I ask, because that's what you've done when I asked for an opinion. PBJ - that type of social syntax does not work. A list of search results [IS NOT EQUAL TO] opinion. Not even remotely.
In fact, THE only time you've actually offered an opinion is when you wrote: "Personally I have used both and prefer VAGCOM". Thank you for that opinion, in light of your post. I'll go ahead and order a VAS.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: VAGCOM vs. VAS5054
I have only ever seen VAS systems on ebay that are quite dated. The nice thing about them is that they are designed for retarded grease monkeys, so they are very guided. I am not enamoured with the Vagcom. I think the interface is unintuitive and pretty much inaccessible for anyone that doesn't have a firm footing in IT. You should be ok with it bam.
I'm curious to know where you would order a VAS from? A modern one would cost thousands, I thought.
At least with a VAS the elsawin procedures are easier to follow.

Re: VAGCOM vs. VAS5054
I am completely ok with VAGCOM but something that was posted elsewhere made the VAS sound very good, they (a greasy monkey for Bentley) preferred it to VAGCOM, citing "Vagcom was useless for the CAN network investigations I wanted to do. Diagnosis with Vagcom, inconclusive. Diagnostic with VAS, problem figured in minutes."Shoppinit wrote:I'm curious to know where you would order a VAS from? I was directed to fleebay, although never made it there, I found a US site offering it for 130 greenbacks.

Re: VAGCOM vs. VAS5054
Just read this thread on the VAS5054:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... 6-VAS-5054
Surely the one you can get for $130 will be a cracked / hacked jobby. If they are anything like the fake Vagcom systems then you'll probably never get it to work satisfactorily.
What issues are you having that you think you need a VAS5054 for?
