B7 RS4 Engine Conversion

Post by Tonks4x4 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 3:41 pm

Hi guys does anyone know of a successful transplant of the B7 RS4 4.2 Fsi engine into any other car using the original motronic ECU?

If so can you point me in the direction of such project? The only ones I have heard about they have converted to VEMS or Motec or used throttle bodies.

I have heard that the variable valve timing will not work unless it can talk to the other ecu's ie traction control and steering direction? Is this true.

Many thanks
Brian

84 views and no reply? :(

I can't be the only man on the planet wanting to use this engine in a project car? Has no one seen one done?

The Gumpert Apollo uses a twin turbo version of the RS4 motor, mated to a 6 speed sequential box, but it appears to retain the 4 wheel drove-train and Torsen diff etc.

Well it apears you can transplant this engine into another car and retain all the original ECU's etc.

I have put one into a 1985 Audi 80 and have had it running. I have now sent off my ECU's for decoding. :)

Wow, you don't mess around - ask a question & a week later job is just about finished ! Good work, hope the ECU/TC etc. isn't that difficult to get right.

Judging by those dates, it looks like it took a year and ten-ish days...
No matter where you go, there you are.
