I have some pics ot the duct being fitted but there are not very clear, but my main problem is that I don't know how to load them onto the blog?!
start a fresh "blog" Poor old Ricks thread is getting bastardized beyond believe.

You can host images on http://www.photobucket.com or use the sites image uploading tool, very straight forward.

yeah thanks was just about to post this, could mods delete the thread hijack posts please

thanks :beerchug:

not really done much this weekend, ive been researching exhausts, and i think ive decided on what size and boxes im fitting.

i also smoothed the inside of the airbox,

this is part of the way through

ive removed the trumpet too, not sure if its the best idea but removed it will be the best for flow. I have also blocked off the top inlet to the airbox that goes into the wing, to make it more forced (now 2 x forced feeds into the airbox.

ill do some logs soon to see if i get anymore g/s tonight.

Hmmm interesting stuff

Since adsgreen was talking about ram air on the other thread, its got me thinking, iv been thinking too about blanking off the side wing vent and the snorkel on the top. But using a wider width induction tube. Maybe widen the width of the entry pipe into the front of the airbox?

BTW Rick are you looking at taking your car on the track?

the top snorkel is still ok to leave in, its forced air still and fed from the front grill so still cold, its just the wing inlet that should be either blocked off or another feed from the fog light area.

not going to track it at the moment but i will in the future, my aim is to get the best powerfrom the 4.2 and still be n/a.

The reason you have a trumpet is down to the way air flows over surfaces.
The design you now have can only ingest air relative to it's cross section - ie only what's in front of it.

However a rounded trumpet mounted away from the edge actually draws air from in front and behind it - ie it can get more.

The thing with na engines is that it's really really hard to screw up air intake before the airbox.
As long as the air box is of a sufficient size to slow the air down then it'll work as well as any other.
Remember that after the air box it's going to go into the intake manifold - on the rs4 this acts like a air box too with individual trumpets for each cylinder.

Air doesn't compress as easily as you'd think - if the air box starts getting pressurised then all that'll happen is the air won't go in but just spill out around the tubes.

ive been out tonight to do some logging and got some good results, ok the temp is a bit cooler from last week but ive made significant gains.

engine speed 7880
g/s 170.42
throttle 99.6
timing angle 30.8
oil temp 95
ambient air temp 8
intake air temp 12
engine outlet temp 90
knock 1-4 -1.5 0 0 0

170.42 /0.8 = 213 x 2 =

426 BHP ok its a guide but it shows my work has increased power,

not sure if i should stick the velocity stack back in or leave it now?
suggestions

Do you have a before log as the intake temp is very very low which will skew the results.

max i saw was 31, it was 12-16 befre the max 170 g/s that was lastnights run,

last time i logged it was 159.72 g/s with inlet temps 23 and AAT 28.

what blocks do you log when out?
