TTS Supercharger development for RS4
Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
What volume? Lots.
The whole ethos of the rs line has changed.
Used to be only one rs model at a time but now we have rs3, rs5 and tt-rs.
They are also rolling off the main production line instead of being niche.
Audi must have looked at BMW and thought well they can do it so why not us?
Audi generally had a low target for the rs cars and they knew it could be met without jumping through the us legislation hoops so why bother.

Audi have IMHO totally abandonded keeping the RS sub-brand special, they now just use it as another cynical marketing badge.
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)

Sweet, so I take it all went well at the Ring then with the first Ring test of the TTS RS4?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
My car was faultless at the ring.
Sitting at 85mph gps in this country it was doing 23mpg average
Sitting at 100mph gps in europe is was doing 21mpg average
More to come on mpg though as we were logging and testing as we were driving over.
I only did 6 laps becasue there were so many accidents. Coming onto the main straight you have 3 rows of cars parked all the way back to the gantry..
Every flat out corner is not flat out anymore, the power sliding out of corners is fun, and the fast sections are silly fast now. I am going back later this year to do a time.
8.30 was my best getting stuck behind cars and slowing for accidents - that is an easy 8.30 where as normally aspirated you have to be on it to gget that time.

Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
well done Doug
Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
I went over with a friend with a 550ps 700nm B5 RS4 (rs6 hybrids/manifolds/ICs etc) - the same one we videod last year at the ring where I followed him round the track and he pulled away out of corners really easy.
We did a 3rd to 5th gear on the autobahn and the b7 had at least 6 cars lengths on him by 5th. I can't post the video as the language is shocking (they are Scottish though) You will need to find it on Facebook..

Nice one Doug will look forward to the results.
Accidents already, its getting silly there now, my last 2 trips this year have been ruined by crashes.
Great Ring time.

Looking very impressive Doug, well done.

Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
wait...danny bought the PES M90 kit...then traded out the PES tune for an MRC tune...then traded out the M90 for an M112...then traded the whole thing out for a TTS kit?
Wow! Guy is an animal. Looking forward to seeing more from your car Danny, and from the MRC car.
Doug, any thoughts on taking it to Santa Pod? Its only about 40 miles from MRC I think (if google maps is accurate).

Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
My car is getting all the parts jigged up just now as we are happy with the final build on my car. We will take it to santa pod but I will also put it side by side with some other cars for some 3rd to 5th gear runs to show how fast it is. I have a friends 2011 GTR to do this with, a Caddilac CTSV and a standrd RS6 C6. It caught up with a R8 GT at a track day a few weeks ago.sakimano wrote:wait...danny bought the PES M90 kit...then traded out the PES tune for an MRC tune...then traded out the M90 for an M112...then traded the whole thing out for a TTS kit?

That sounds great Doug. Thanks in advance for helping with the development of another great product for the RS4.Doug_S2 wrote:My car is getting all the parts jigged up just now as we are happy with the final build on my car. Dynos or on-road in gear accelration (3k-8k) are nice, but don't take into account the quality or limitations of the tuning. We've seen lots of 'fast' supercharged S4/RS4/S5 cars on the dyno that turned out not to be nearly as fast as we thought once they were forced to run the flat dragstrip and shift through 4 gears with third party timing.
Throwing up an impressive video and timeslip from Santa Pod will satisfy just about everyone's curiosity and all of the skeptics will have no choice but to applaud the project. There's nothing I've seen that answers the question 'how fast is it' better and more irrefutably than a good timeslip from a certified dragstrip (and nothing I've seen that harms a company more than hiding from externally timed acceleration runs).
Re: TTS Supercharger development for RS4
I totally disagree with the drag strip being the be all and end all.
It's completely unscientific and tests the driver as much as the car.
I've seen plenty of high powered cars get screwed by a bad launch or bad change.
Same goes for 0-60, 0-100 and the Nordschleife.
As for a dyno - there was a link posted here recently that really went through the problems with dyno testing.
3-8k in gear test completely takes out many of the variables. Driver, tyres, etc.. Sure you still need to know slope and conditions but it's considerably more repeatable.
