OK Sorry - I thought just a map made the difference so you are saying spacers, induction kit & a remap added 30 bhp which is a great resultRTS BRAT wrote: You have completely missed the point.....
445ps (=438.90 hp), MRC .........The car was Dyno'd again with DMS, and confirmed 440hp (=446ps) with MRC map.
After which point I had the spacers fitted and the Kit and then a remap. Nothing else changed, not tyre pressures not wheels nothing just those three things

I don't doubt the make a huge difference (I used to have a production racer & you couldn't change the wheels) & my current bike has forged Marchesinis - if you thought unsprung mass was important on a car, try a bike when you have to tip the spinning wheels over ! Yes the acceleration, certainly the handling & stopping are all helped by a lighter tyre/wheel combination but surely they can't affect the bhp the motor produces ?adsgreen wrote:Re:heavier wheels - makes a huge difference. It won't affect the engine output but it will affect what the dyno sees.
The dyno is calculating the bhp from how fast the car accelerates a known mass.
So if the wheels take more energy to spin up then it will affect this reading.
Likewise the coastdown calculation will be a little off - hard to say if they would exactly cancel it out.

Do you think upgrading to Carbon brakes disks would help handling and acceleration? ... Yes.
Brake fade issues aside the main reason f1 use it is purely down to performance of being lighter.
But the question is would you notice it... Hard to say but Every kg saved in unsprung mass (ESP rotating unsprung mass) is the same as removing (rule of thumb here) 10kgs from the vehicle.
Don't have the weight figures between the ceramic and steel brakes though.
Is it worth the 6k+ to fit? If you track very regularly then The increased lifespan and durability will be beneficial but in terms of outright performance... Difficult.

The ratio I was told was 350:1 so unsprung mass is very important, although that doesn't nexessarily mean ceramics as some light 18s with track tyres on would probably save more weight in the right place as well as provide more grip. I have never used ceramic brakes so can't consider the braking performance benefits but in terms of unsprung mass I would have thought your money could be better spent elsewhere. I have the GruppeM version on my car, in other words, they make two types of Kit one for the OE box and one for after market. it points straight at the Cone filter of the gruppeM. This means that you keep the sound as well as feeding the GruppeM with accelerated cold air...I wonder if this also has a scavanging effect on the air around it. And the effects on the temperature of the inlet manifold are profound and oil temps are still reading at 95-96 at 80mph on the motor way. I'm going to try and go to another dyno, this week to calm the sceptics... Where do we find details of this kit???
I think there are loads of people here who want to know. As a GruppeM owner I know I do, I am under no illusions as to how much power we lose with heat soak
