Annual Mileage

Post by Malcolmx92 » Sun Sep 11, 2011 7:57 am

I will be selling my plus at some point next year and am currently in the process of renewing my Audi warranty which has 2 options in terms of mileage per year a 15000 limit or an unlimited option...Stupid question is it really a no brainer paying the extra for the unlimited miles? Just to give you an example last year i covered 3000 miles in the 6...

Quite clearly the unlimited option is a good selling point but how many owners actually drive more than 15k a year?
Just like to guage the average amount driven each year by owners...
Thank you in advance for your contributions...

Classic... I used to do about 20,000 to 25,000 miles a year in my RS6. I think my record was 4,000 miles in 1 month, used some serious quantities of fuel that month :biggrin3:

No, not me... met someone who lived in Cornwall, and his business spanned the Midlands, Newcastle and London, that fella did 80K+ miles per year, the nutter practically lived in his car. He would halve his mileage if he lived somewhere different. He used to have his car serviced every 6 weeks.

No way I could ever do that.

My current car has a bit more of a ballance of power and economy. 300 bhp & 440 lb ft, about 35mpg and 180 CO2.

My view on life has always been, if you do "above average" mileage, then you want to do it in something nice. Now I'm mid-thirties, my mileage has dropped. IIRC fuel bill in the RS6 was about £8k per year, dread to think what it would be now, I guess about £11k. Tyres and brakes were quite a cost for the mileage, about 20p per mile.

Anyway, back to the topic, I would go for the 15,000 mile limit option, as I can't imagine that many buyers would be exceeding that. Average Mileage has increased from the old 10k as people have become more mobile for employment over the years, I guess its around 13k per year now.

If I did 3k per year, I'd buy an R300 Superlight. ;)

I've only had mine since April and have put 5k on it, which doesn't sound a lot but once you add in that I work offshore and am only here half the year...

Haha likewise! I do about 15k per year and I'm only here for about 6 months of it. The drive up to Abz and back puts the best part of 1k on the clock though. Might start using hire cars...
