Wot no spankin?

Post by Shoppinit » Mon Sep 05, 2011 3:39 pm

It's been ages since somebody has posted saying that they went up against a fezza or a porker and came out on top.

Are you all afraid of mashing your gearboxes? Can't bear to see the fuel needle drop?

Or, God forbid, are our RS6 now slow in the way that a modern Ssangyong will slaughter a golf 1 GTi in a drag?

Post up your stories of glory :bigwave:

Haven't had an opportunity to play with a porsche or ferrari yet!

I murdered a 996 C4S Cab coming back from Scotland a couple of months back. I say murder, it was actually a relentless slaughter from the Scottish border all the way to Birmingham.
His clichéd hot blonde girlfriend was laughing her head off though, fair play to guy for having a petrol girlfriend, the second run she actually turned around with a huge toothy grin while both cars were going two abreast, I took them on the inside with about a mile until the next group of cars/traffic, so I widened the gap just to make a point. I topped out 4th gear and then started eating into 5th gear more times than I should have but the '6 just keeps on giving, it relentlessly tries to head butt the horizon like a demented woodpecker.
My front seat passenger was asleep during the first porker tangle and he awoke just as the revs were getting frantic in fourth, we were jogging past Mister Porker at something approaching double the national thingumgy whatsit. His reaction was best described as "alarmed", with a inaudible mumble, he actually reached out and put his hands onto the dashboard to 'steady' himself, then started looking around very confused trying to get to grips with a world in fast-forward, his neck finally craned a little to check the speedo, he said a four letter word, sat back, adjusted his seatbelt and began blending into leather seat colour option. At least that's how he said it happened; I missed it as I was paying full attention to just how much motorway the front of the car was swallowing up. He stayed awake until the porker peeled off at Birmingham, interestingly his girlfriend in the back slept through the whole 'ordeal' and proclaimed it to be one of the best sleeps she'd had, ever!
It was consistent for hundreds of miles. I'd sit a couple of car lengths behind while he was waiting for the last car to get out of his way, leaving a clear run until the next set of motorway build up and he'd be off with me all spooled up behind him, once clear he'd pull into the middle lane and not long after I'd burn past only to watch him get smaller in my rear-view mirror. I'd assume the lead at the next motorway build up and he'd try to take me when I pulled to the middle, that never happened, then I'd wait and follow him into traffic in the right-hand lane.
Rinse. Repeat.

How we didn't get pinged by the filth is amazing, we passed two marked motorway police landies but they were easy spots, after we cleared each of them it'd be back on again, it was simultaneously one of the most awesome and stupidest things I have ever done. The conditions just felt 'right' but it was silly, there's no doubt, but there's also no way I was going to let him 'win'.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Nice bam!

I whooped an e46 m3 the other day but took no satisfaction from
it. Only took the bate as he was right up my chaff until pulling alongside at the traffic lights. Also had a really nasty body kit and spoiler - looked like something a transformer had shat out!

The only cars that want to play are shitty saxo's and the like - not even worth wasting my tyres on!

Sadly only get the saxo crew trying to push me around here. I did see a fezza 2 weeks after we brought the car but couldn't race due to shot/sh*t drc and leaking coolers.

I only seem to drive it with the little one in the back and the Mrs glaring at me, so NEVER get to open her up, let alone spank anyone!!!. I go no faster than 70 mph on the M way and get hooted by old ladies for going too slow round roundabouts.

I do get 23 mpg average through :-)

Might as well sell it and get a 2.0l diesel!!

took a transit on the other day sounded diesely to me tho :D ,seems no one wants to waste petrol anymore, and as you guys an girl know if your limiter has been took off you will only go as fast as your balls will let you, gets a bit scary after 160,points?ban? blow out? copter chase?will it be me on itv road wars next.its easy nailing it between lights as you get to about 90-130 but what happens when he-she is like you (wont give up)do you keep ye foot to the floor or make like this is your turn off an go a different way, everything is against the car owner now,we are mr-mrs kerching, even the dam copter knows how fast your doing, you need laser/radar detectors, laser jammers ,eyes in the back of your head :drink: we all speed now and again just some do it faster than others. :redrs4:

It's not "as fast as you can go", it's "as fast you're willing to go". If no one wants play there's not much point going over three figures. We'll miss these rare beasts when we're all stuck in electric humboxes.

I think that's the point...

I also remember a drive like Bam's description, being caught up in the adrenalin of the moment with myself and two other mates in their respective cars going far to fast for our own good, and finishing a journey having averaged over 110mph. I wouldn't do it again when I now consider the career and family implications of losing my license!

I'm driving an A4 Avant 2.0TFSi quattro S-tronic as a company car just now which is far from slow...

But it feels like it's got half an engine in it in comparison to the RS, and I don't need to spank another car to know it.

I don't want to end up having lost my license through stupidity, and having driven my company barge for a few days I still get a rush from getting in the RS6 and feeling it growl up to 60mph with no effort, and I have just as much fun doing some moderate speed overtakes or driving "spiritedly" along my favourite road as trying to go balls-out fast on a straight motorway.

I guess I'm just getting old!

Fooooook, that change up point is 155 in a C5 RS6!! You've got more balls than I have (and yes a faster car).

Speed is not always needed to have fun!

I went to France 3 weeks ago, took almost 8 hours to do 200 odd miles between Grenoble and Nice...there was some traffic, but most of it was done at less than 50 mph on mountain roads barely wider than the car, with a large drop on the side. I was not hanging about I can tell you, and going fast on such roads is great fun (especially on my own, family flew ahead). :D

For such a big car, it holds more than its own (even on DRC...). And it is very handy for overtaking within 100 yards of road! The box in "manual" mode is very good.

Spanked a few locals, but with 450hp there is not much glory.

Know what you mean - my 205 GTi 1.9 is still more 'fun' to drive than the S4. Regularly find myself driving the S4 too fast because the car is so fast, capable and planted. It's too easy. This would only be worse if I moved to a C6 RS6 in a few years if the budget allowed. Depends if I still have a licence I guess!!
