If I was to offer opinion (I'm never usually opinionated me), I'd say Audi would play the 'wear n tear' card a hell of a lot less than WD ever would.

Mr Mule

on my RS 4 cab, the warranty ran out a few weeks, but they gave me grace to put it back on via the 3 excess options x 2 levels of cover

it is the same as the Audi Approved, at the highest level

If it were me, I'd go All Component, highest Excess on the RS 6

The biggest benefit IMO, is you can take it to an Audi Dealer and let them sort it out, as opposed to some random company you know nothing about

The C5 is getting on now, and just to be ABLE to have a Audi Warranty is a godsend for such a complex, highly engineered beast

I think another big piece of the puzzle is that audi dont like mods. So the ball ache of it all going back to standard before a claim is unavoidable. This involves a specialist indi, plus audi.

Whereas a WD policy means car going straight to the Indi, back to standard, and staying there until inspected and work is approved. Less of a ball ache over all. Cheaper policy, and can still top up to a new audi box worst case. There is the 20% to add though...

I wish it worked that way. That's what their marketing would have you believe. In the real world; the car goes to an indie and they issue a diagnosis and their quote for remedy to WD. The car is then inspected. If the quote is more or less the same as their repair network costs, the work is approved and you're sweet. However, I think it's becoming more frequent that they invoke the last condition of their Ts & Cs - WD reserves the right to refuse work approval if a more financially beneficial quote for work can be sort amongst WD approved repairers. If that happens, you go with the flow and your car is picked up OR, you accept however low the WD approved repairer is offering and you pay the extra for your indie to do it. In the case of a gearbox, it gets a little more tricky and I can't really be arsed going into it. Let's just say that if your TC is failing but the gearbox is stripped and inspected (by WD engineer), finding the 'box to be fine but TC shot, they'll only rebuild the TC for replacement. There's also every chance they'll not pay for the 'box strip down too. It's a grey area.

BTW you can request a higher premium for 0% parts contribution. I did.

I bought my 2003 Avant in January 2009 from my local Audi dealer and it came with a 3 year Audi Dealer Warranty. I only bought it on the basis that it a) had a 3 year warranty and b) it could be renewed after three years which they advised it could subject to full service history, which it has, on the basis that it gave me peace of mind if it did go wrong and would be easier to sell with a warranty.

The warranty has no excess and has a limit up to the value of the car, so in effect will cover the failure of a gearbox or something else equally as expensive.

Fortunately in the three years I have had the car it has been exceptionally reliable with only a couple of little niggles being being a replacement key fob and for the fix for the steaming up of the windows due to the solar powered sun roof both of which were paid for under the warranty without quibble.

I have just been offered renewal of the warranty as follows:

12 months - £860

18 months - £1,105

24 months - £1,340

30 months - £1,545

36 months - £1,740

I am sure that you would all agree that I would be absolutely stupid with these prices to not take the extended three years at £1,740 - in fact I am actually wondering if my local dealer have got their prices wrong as they look too low to me, so I am going to renew asap, albeit I am currently considering selling my car, so watch this space for possibly a 14,000 miles (yes you did read that correctly) RS6 with a 3 year warranty for sale soon !

Anyone attempting to run an RS without official Audi warranty is dumb...any other warranty policy just isnt worth the bog roll.
The peace of mind that it provides to simply drop your car off and waft around in a 11 plate diesel, whilst someone else takes care of the headache is priceless
And mods arent usually a problem either as most dealers either are oblivious, or turn a blind eye.

Should be a no brainer as C5's are becoming a fekin nightmare to run !

Very well said and it applies to almost everyone on here but some mods are a little more obvious than others... that, and I've only found one Audi stealer I can trust.
I've always wondered about "turning a blind eye" though, what does that mean? If an eye is blind why would you need to turn it, in ANY direction? You could look directly at the offending object and still see nothing! Old sayings have almost zero meaning in todays Internet lexicon.

So how can I buy a genuine Audi warranty?

I have owned my car since it was 1 year old.
I extended my warranty for 2 years at around £1250 each year for all component cover.

Then, because the car was in its 6th year, the price jumped to £2500 for named component cover. That didn't seem like good value to me.

Someone here raved about having an Inchcape dealer warranty, so I asked my Inchcape dealer who had always service my car. Turns out it was too popular so they changed the requirements and I needed to have bought my car from them, which I didn't, so I wasn't eligible.

Now I go onto the audiextendedwarranty.co.uk website and I'm asked to login with a pin number.
Can someone talk me through this please? I would like to go back to the safety net of Audi. My car is 7 years old with less than 80k on the clock and has been out of Audi warranty since July 2010.

To obtain a quotation, or to purchase a policy online now, simply click the button below. Please be aware that to get a quotation you will need your vehicle registration and the PIN detailed on your Audi Extended Warranty invitation letter. As with any warranty, not all repairs and parts are covered. Please check the policy itself for full details.
See here for button
Alternatively, call 0845 641 9708 for more information or to purchase your policy by telephone. Lines are open 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm. Calls may be recorded.

You may have to jump through some hoops to get the warranty OR the car may just be too old. Best of luck.

that wont be the Mondial "audi approved" warranty .... Mondial only provide on a 1 yr basis, at a much higher cost ... but it is by the best

that will be a warranty backed by a different provider ... was it an Inchape garage ?

Got me quote for a year £1260 from Audi or £500 approx from Inchcape, any thoughts, I am told the only difference is the Inchcape does not cover the sat nav. I can take the car outside the Inchcape group too.

Mooch had Inchape cover and he used Grizz for all his warranty work. He raved about them... or maybe he ranted, I'm never sure.

It was me that managed to get an inchcape warranty on my first rs6. 3 years for a grand. Sold it shortly after but the gearbox failed with Cam, but it was replaced without quibble afaik.

This audi warranty is available to anyone. Just have to call the number, listen to two mins of annoying prerecorded drivel, and get them to quote you.

WD have absolutely not let me get away. After trying for almost three weeks theyre now back in the game as they have offered to take away the 20% contribution to parts clause for a £50 one off. They are saying there is NO wear and tear clause. Parts damaged by other parts which are not covered failing are also covered. £875.

C6 brakes are calling too at the moment, so I dont think this cover is all that bad a compromise... Am I placating myself?
