TURBO GURU WANTED

Post by QCRS4 » Sun Aug 14, 2011 2:33 pm

Hi, I'm looking to put a TT setup on my 2007 RS4. I thinking about doing something similar to the Heffner R8 v8 kit, 500whp at 6-8psi. So what will be the best turbo setup for this high comp high rev engine. Do you think that this turbo GT3582R A/R?...will do the job. As you already know I'm freaking High comp OEM so this is more CFM than PSI that I need.

thank's for you help

GT35 is a fair size of turbo, GT30's are making High 400's to mid 500's on Subarus!

I have a GT35/42 hybrid going on my 2.35 Liter and hoping for mid 600's once its finished

Graeme

edit
but saying that the above is on relatively low comp engines running decent boost (1.8 - 2 bar ish)

GT30 / GT35 setups on 1.8t engines making 350-400 due to insufficient airflow even at the rev limit
A 1 x GT40 would be perfect for a V8

it's alsmost impossible to fit a single turbo set up on the RS4.
this what I'm looking to make. My budget is 20 000$USD

I Applaud your enthusiasm for trying this  ,i take it this will a track car or something ,with all unneccessary items removed ,With a road car theres hardly enough room in that engine bay for a mouse to crawl around lol, never mind 2 gt35s with all the pipework in there:-) but anything can be done i spose with enough time and money be awaesome when its done tho , hats off to you !
Phantom black saloon ,PES M112 Supercharged 520ps/595nm K&N filter, 100 cell milltek cats, res valved milltek system. 8 and 10mm H&R spacers.H&R roll bars, "smoke chrome " alloy refurb. JHM Quickshifter, Bilstein B16 coilovers , uprated diff mount ,50/50 devils own WM kit so 1.4 litres/min in intake approx 10% more power and torque

I may be wrong but that looks like a C5 RS6 V8 engine, not the FSI V8 with turbo's bolted on? specifically that is belt rather than chain driven.

Yep sure is. That B5 with C5 RS motor is pretty old that now. I wonder if the B5 engine bay is any smaller than the B7...
There was a recent 'Stateside B7 project that was to have a C5 RS engine fitted, I think it was abandoned for some technical reason.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Where are you going to fit a single turbo? the exhaust plumbing will be hard to make neat.

The Heffner R8s use big turbos and keep stock compression - I think you need to use smaller turbos so they physically fit in, but lower compression as well. 2 small gt30s on a 4.2(c5) with low compression do 780ps not pushed at all. We've been measuring up and have a test engine to try and get a setup that will work.

It is only worthwhile if it can do 650+ since the superchargers are getting close to 600.
