I have to say that as an RS6 owner myself, that i by far the nicest and freshest looking C5 I have seen. I sometimes look at my car and think that it looks rather dated, but that colour combination along with the wheels looks sensational. I'm actually very tempted to get my Daytona Plus wrapped in the same colour. I have the 20" C6 alloys in black on mine which I think would work with the Imola colour.

I've never modded a car for financial gain.

It's purely for my own pleasure. On all te cars i've ever modified, i've never got the money back (and i don't expect to).

I do it because like most people on here, i'm a petrol head, it's my hobby, pass time, pride & joy, passion (call it what you like). We all do it for our own pleasure.

@ 500plus - The answer to your question is that it's worth it to me but probably not to the average man on street.

Thats the best description of "our hobby" ive seen...well said that man couldnt have put it better myself!!

Cars are my passion too...most people dont understand...but most people have intrests i think are pathetic...(watching overpaid tossers kicking a footballl about being one of them)it winds me up when people take the piss because im always cleaning my car or the arseholes at work who say "how much??" when i have work done...piss off and mind your own buisness...coming from people with no idea and running around in diesel zafiras who have given up on life!!!

Just to add, after visiting QST and having a healthcheck done, i'll be getting two replacement intercoolers tomorrow. All the plugs were also changed as one cylinder was misfiring. That has now been sorted

I topped up the car with £110 worth of Vpower and i've managed 250 miles - bearing in mind 140 odd miles were motorway miles (literally cruise control at 80-90mph), the odd bit of fun but nothing major . The rest has been very conservative city driving. I haven't really put my foot down as the intercoolers and a few other bits need doing.

Any thoughts on why i'm getting less miles than you guys (estimated 300 to the tank) with quite sensible driving? Most of my journeys are to and from work (apprx 3miles stop and start journeys). I'm not too fussed about the cost as I expect these cars drink a lot, just want to ensure it's running right.

One other question, where's best to get parts for the RS6. I need a rear wheel bearing, inner CV boot and a bottom arm. Is TPS best or do you guys reccomend any other places like ECP (they currently have a 25% off offer) or GSF etc?

Any help would be great.

TBH mate, that 250 range on the tank doesnt sound horrendous at all. A. Cruising at average 85, B. With cruise control (which is not a good way at improving economy), and C. With half stop/start city driving, I'm sure most would agree sounds pretty average.

I'd be very wary buying parts from ECP unless they are from a reputable make, even then there's a chance they are copies. I only use them if i'm really really desparate for something. TPS for genuine everytime and occasionally GSF.

@ mrmule, I almost always use repairs as an excuse to upgrade lol, but at around £1500 I can't quite justify it at the moment (have a lot going on including finishing off a property).

Re the fuel consumption, that's cool as long as nobody else is getting more im happy On a serous note, as long as it's 'normal' then that's fine. Just want to make sure it's running right.

Also, why is cruise control no good mate?

Bilko1 - cool buddy, i'll probably get the parts ordered from TPS this week. On my last car GSF were always pretty good. Good branded parts at reasonable prices.

Yeah, I get about 280 miles out of a tank if I drive sensibly with a couple of fun bits thrown in. In town they will easily do 8 mpg with a bit of stop start.

Yours was looking pretty sweet too . That red is a very nice colour!

As i was saying earlier, the paint job is great but literally needs a good buff and some Zymol treatment to give it that top finish

A few minor bits to finish after the whole car was pulled apart for the respray. A few clips/rubbers etc and it will be looking A1 fingers crossed. Need to take it down a few notches too

Regarding fuel economy - if you have access to Vagcom you could :

1. Test the efficiency of your MAF, either logging the Max airflow if it's knackered new/refrub
2. Vagcom to check lambda and cat health
3. Boost leaks etc
4. Dirty injectors/duff spark plugs/coilpack

The car had brand new MAFs around 7 months ago.
It WAS misfiiring but just had brand new plugs (no longer misfiring).

On the diagnostics done by QST it was clean apart from leaking intercoolers (just bought 2 off Dunc) which i'll be replacing next week.

Will that help improve MPG?

Yes boost leaks will cause low MPG plus turbo working overtime.

Another cause of low mpg is having a tuned 4.2 twin turbo 2 tonne car
