Audi RS5 wannabe

Post by stevomepy » Fri Jul 29, 2011 4:35 pm

Im detemined to get back in the RS club with an RS5 later this year - I had a B7 RS4 for 18 months before stupidly swapping it for a 996 turbo x50 - worst mistake ever and still regret it now - I had modified my RS4 with remap and de-catted it and Gruppe M air intake . What is the RS5 like to drive in comparison to a B7 RS4? From what i beleive its a bit more refined - is that a good thing or bad?

Good luck in your search. Why didn't you like the 996 turbo?

Oh i had nothing but problems with it - MAFF sensor, turbo actuator arms - then got diagnosed with a leaking gearbox seal - £15- 20,000 for a new gearbox because they cant supply the seal on their own!! luckily i had an extended porsche warranty so they replaced the whole gearbox. I had it remapped as well up to 540 bhp - it was biblically fast but hard work to drive after that - and the 19 inch wheels i fitted made it tramline..............just got fed up with it - bought a C63 AMG after that - that only lasted two months and got rid of that due to the unbelievable fuel consumption and my wife ending up sideways when she pulled out of junctions twice........... oh for a four wheel drive Audi RS AGAIN---- HAPPY DAYS

Im also seriously thinking about one....going to keep the RS4 another 10months then RS5 time....

Dont care what you say shes a handsome beast...will be as quick if not quicker than the 4..sounds the same, same awesome engine....thats a no brainer for me.

Good dynamics, more modern technology..and most have a good spec.

Rarer too that the 4 hopefully.

Hopefully about 40k mark in a year..so in my price range..

Starting doing my forum homework as of now..so im fully loaded with info when i go shopping for one!!!

I had my phantom black RS 4 wrapped in white vinyl wrap with a carbon roof and had a guy i know who works at Bentleys as an upholsterer cover my steering wheel and gear lever and handrake in alcantara - i had full Miltek fitted as well as i said before about remap and air filte - god i loved that car - it was awesome when i de-catted it - but threw a fault light up - should have had racing cats instead -

I hope the RS 5 sounds as good - has anyone had a Milltek / racing CATS fitted?

That was the guy who had it after me - i traded it in at Nick Whales garage -and he sold it the next week at the Autocar show at the NEC apparently - id post a pic but ive forgotten how to - i used to start it up in the morning and wake half the street up apparently :biggrin2: - youve got a sprint blue one - thats the colour i was going for till i saw that sinister beauty advert with the big black spider and that black RS4 - that was me hook line and sinkered.

I thought the RS5 was a bit too understated when i first saw it but its really grown on me - i saw a black one the other night with a black optic kit on it parked in knutsford cheshire - reg was RS5 BOSS - looked fab

Good to see a bit of love appearing for the RS5....

It seems to get negative press a little bit.....its arrived on the scene IMO a lot quieter than the B7 RS4...

So isnt as well known....must admit it does look like most A5S but i kinda like the stealthy look...the fact that only car fans know what it is.

My ideal spec would be...

DAYTONA GREY
MATT ALU STYLING PACK
SUNROOF
BUCKETS
CERAMICS
HIGH END TECHNOLOGY PACK
PARKING PACK PLUS
LECCY REAR BLIND
SPORTS ZORST
20" ROTORS IN TITANUIM FINISH

Dont want much do i??????????? :kissmyrings:

Test drove one too and loved it, been debating for months whether to swap my 4 for one but just there will be a refresh of the RS5 later this year early next so I think I will hold out for that.
