NE England Convoy to National Meet

Post by P_G » Fri Jul 15, 2011 1:32 pm

For the few of us going to the meet in or near Newcastle, should we all meet at the Southbound Washington services car park at say 10.00am on the Sunday? That gives us a good couple of hours to run down there and perhaps take in the Sleights - Malton Moors Road via Fylingdales the other way round before getting there.

Thoughts?

We could go done the A1 and it is technically (AA) the quickest route by about 20 minutes but also the longest. We were talking about either heading down to Stokesley and then down either the B1257 through Chopgate to Malton or along past Guisborough on the Whitby Road to Sleights and then across the A169 Saltersgate Road past Fylingdales to Malton. Both routes are a good 20 miles shorter and a lot more scenic If you want to meet us a Stokesley or Darlo (don't know where you live) Brett, I know it's a trek but they are great roads to get to the venue.

I'm just at darlo, I don't mind either way, a1 has road works (50 mph).
If you can say an approximate time your passing and I'll meet you?

Brett, you might be better meeting us at the Wolviston services that sits on the A19 / A689 junction because I don't know anywhere else en route with a convenient and visible stopping place. Say 10:30-10:45? It's also a Shell Station so a chance for some to top up with V-Power before driving down.

For the ones making their way to Washington Services I would suggest we are all there for 9.45 onwards so that we can set off on the stroke of 10.00am? See you all then.
