Car seems high at the back.

Post by seanypeeps » Wed Jul 06, 2011 5:18 pm

Hi boys and girls, someone pointed out to me today that the car seemed "jacked up" at the rear and ever since they said it i can't help agreeing with them. I bought the car last year and it had the drc replaced when i bought it. I know what your about to say and i'd love to ditch it but they gave me three years warranty with the car so nothing changing anytime soon. I have read that if the drc is replaced wrong it can make the car sit high at the back but not sure how true this is? Also what sort of meaurment is about right from wheel centre to arch for saloon with a full tank of fuel. I have looked at many pics and you can't tell from angles and such and not knowing if they have coilovers on or not. Unfortunately i don't live on the mainland so a trip to U 20/MRC is not possible and with only a few on the island which seem to all be owned by stuck up snobs who don't acknowledge another 6, i don't think physically comparing them side by side is on the books either. Cheers boys. Sean. :bigwave:

If the DRC is filled incorrectly then you get the rear jacked up like this:

Also your handling will be wrong.

Good luck getting them to accept they didn't do it right :(

Can you post a piccy?

This with them set as high as possible at the front to try and achieve stock height. Which I more or less have.

I took an average of the left and right sides to get the most accurate reading possible.

Looks like this:

That's top of arch to floor, and it's very close to stock height.

Cheers boys yep nothing like those pics at all and also floor to arch is 672 on the rear and 659 on the front. Only 12mm diff which doesn't seem alot to me. I suppose my eyes were just making it look jacked and maybe the way the car had settled. Thanks for clearing it up so quickly. Here's a pic anyway.

It does look a bit high to me. Not massively so, but it does look higher than the front.

A lot depends on the relief of the ground that the car is sitting on. It does look slightly high in that picture.

Have you got one side on?

Only this one form the side. Come to think of it that last pic is on quite a slope. This one not flat but better.

Nowt to do with me!! rented property from a Jersey Farmer which in lamens terms means you can't get tighter when money is concerned. Moving in a few months as the drive is just a mud bath in the rain.

I hope it isn't as bad as this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3010419.htm

It looks like it's doing an emergency brake from 120 mph. Looks very wrong IMO.

Yes, that's a good example of DRC being incorrectly filled. Air in the system.

Would be worth finding out from the seller who did the DRC so we can avoid them like the plague.

I have driven it now and does all it should.
Now there's a glowing commendation.

And you get a free apostrophe with the disks, but no warranty whatsoever. There's having confidence in the product you're selling :)

Otherwise it's dead cheap. I wonder what's wrong with it other than the DRC. Photos don't look too bad.

Mine is no where near that high.

RE Pistonhead car. Is it just me or does the rool lining look very dirty in the picture of the rear seats.

I think it's an optical illusion.
