FK Coilovers

Post by mavada » Wed May 18, 2011 10:42 am

Has somebody experiences with these coilovers? They are much cheaper then the bilsteins or kw...
Maybe less possibilities in adjustments or quality.

I had ordered the Konigsport from a distributor kit but it turned out to take ages to deliver so I cancelled. I then found the "silverline X" kit on FK's own webshop in Germany in stock. Silverline X is basically the konigsport kit but it's been chromed against corrosion and a bit more expensive.
As it turns out they were giving a decent discount and an extra 20% off for easter so I ended up buying them for only 723 euros shipping included...whereas normally it would be 1150.
Shipped next day and they looked very nice, but I have not driven them yet. Hardness is adjustable and they are koni dampers so I'm not worried about the quality.

They are the same price as Bilstein PSS or H&R but I was afraid they would be too firm (and those aren't adjustable)

I wouldn't get the lower end FK's but I think the koni versions should be good.

I have the Highsports on mine at the moment. The only adjustment is the ride height, which is all was after along with replacing the DRC off course. About the same sort of ride comfort as the DRC, only a little stiffer but not that much.

POOR, very POOR. I put them on my rs6 just before i traded it in.. Thought they were terrible, car ddnt feel anywhere near as stiff as with the DRC, also handled worse!

Wouldn't recommend them, they were only 650 quid or so......next time id spend the money and get better bilsteins!

Just to bring this back up - fitted FK coilovers a few days ago, thought not the cheap variety. I went for their most expensive silverline X kit which is made with Koni shocks. It was still very good value, especially because this kit has hardness adjustment whereas H&R and regular PSS bilstein's dont. Ride height is adjustable pretty nicely, no sagging backside.

Comfort, surprisingly good at 30/40% firm F/R. It feels a little tighter to drive and body roll is very limited yet to my surprise over cobblestones it actually felt better damped than my -barely working- DRC used to.

I didnt exactly compare it on the nurburgring but it's certainly no dissapointment for road use!

Hardness or ride height? Ride height the wheels need to come off. Hardness for the fronts is adjustable on top of the shock, rears cannot be adjusted with the wheels on.
