I would also be interested in this, Us Irish owners (well the 4 that are on here, that i know off) are planning a meeting in June.

The possibility of a convoy over to the UK might be an option, depending on distance and cost.

Would there be a chance we could tie this with a RS246 track day or something that may intice more to attend and make a journey over the irish sea more desireable?

Aberdeen to York is more like 325 miles, as its 234 miles from Newcastle to Aberdeen, and 89 miles from Newcastle to York, - so any further South will be a tad harsh on those guys coming from Aberdeen, so York sounds good to me ------avoid Harrogate, the place is a car disaster zone, <beep> parking and its always choked with traffic anyway, I spent a number of years driving from Newcastle and negotiating the lovely, but un car friendly town.

On the way into York, or out of York, depending if you coming from North/South, - on A59, there is a Motor Sport Centre at Tockwith, which caters for car groups, im sure if we used the Track, the owner wouldnt mind us jamming up his car park. - Link attached. Just a thought.

Easy to forget just how far North Aberdeen is.
Roughly speaking, half way between London and Glasgow would be Manchester.
Aberdeen is 160 miles North of Glasgow...

If you are talking about York other forums have used the Dormouse Pub in Clifton as a meet point on a Sunday; good food, big car park and just on the edge A64 Malton - Pickering - N.Yorks Moors road for those that then want to go for a blast before heading home.

It definitely puts things into perspective (Aberdeen 160miles north of Glasgow).

@Polecat, good call, something like that would be ideal.

Again, other option as mentioned by the Irish contingent would be to have a track day, but not many owners want to take there cars on a track and it would also cost. Cadwell park and Oulton park are ideally located ideally central to every one.

We need 100% commitment to make this work.

Thanks for all the replies/advice and suggestions guys. Reading through all the posts it looks already like there is sufficient interest to hold some sort of a meet. After some overnight thought and reading the posted replies I think that rather than just meeting up and 'hanging about in a pub car park or muddy field' it would be much better to tie it in to a motor racing circuit somewhere as there would be more things for us to see/do and perhaps a greater incentive for some to attend.

Polecat you are of course quite right, my typo mistake, Aberdeen is indeed well over 300 miles to York. I realise that York is not truly the 'middle' of the country but I chose it as a suitable compromise for all given the greater number of forum members in the south. Personally (and I'm 50miles south of Aberdeen) I would probably not be willing to travel any further south than York as to do so would mean either getting back very late or even an overnight stay, given that it will be a 5 hour drive. Thanks for the local insight on Harrogate etc. The link you put up looks very promising, and on the face of it looks like (to me) that it would be perfect for our meet. I'll maybe give them a call today and see what if anything they can offer.

Ian - you have an unenviable and impossible task, as we all know, you cant accomodate everyone, in terms of mileage to travel, dates, times, places to meet, activities, entertainment, menus, and so on.

whatever you decide, im up for it anyway...........PS, I will check the dates when York races are on, as this is a nightmare, so I would avoid.

Cheers
