Just had a run in with a B8 S4 Avant at lunchtime with me behind and it wasn't getting away and on occassion when he was reaching top rpm I gained on the rolling gap I had without maxing the RS4 out so my lardy Avant seems to be doing OK. Astra VXR Nurburg Edn. was trying to join in but was getting left on great frequency until we got to the next bit of slow traffic when it caught up again.

There must be something wrong with your RS surely ? My latest race has been with a Golf R32 Mk5 all the way through 3rd , 4th and 5th. He was but a mere speck in the rear view mirror. The R32 has around 250 BHP and 0-60 in 5.8 secs so no slouch. And in the past I have level pegged an RS6 V10 all the way to 150mph from 2nd gear.

Another thing a friend has an A5 2.0 Tfsi 211 and I can tell you now its not in the same ballpark as my RS. And im now thinking about cars I have owned in the past. A TT with 265 BHP remap and an A4 2.0 T again with same remap. Again these cars wouldnt have seen which way an RS went.

Ive just been out and 50 in 3rd equates to 4k rpm. Way way too low for getting the rs4 hustling. Need to be in 2nd which would be about 6k rpm.

Other quotes I like:
'aerodynamics is for people who can't build engines'

'understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of your car.
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take it with you.'

Cracking quotes....

What fuel was you running?

I have noticed when I have used 95 ron the car feels "slow" I was forced to fill up on a track day at Brands once (No 99 available) and I noticed the difference on track. Certain cars could catch me up where as prior I was leaving them. So food for thought. (My car is remapped on 99 ron V-power).

The wife's S3 has 270 and the RS4 leaves it for dead.

Last year a chap in a black F430 spider came up fast behind my standard 06 saloon on Scott Hall road (dual carraigeway) in Leeds, and started to accelerate and slow down a number of times alongside my car. When I got to the next set of lights which were on red, we were both sat at the front of the lights beside each other and he began to loudly rev his engine. When the lights changed, I floored it, and had to get into his lane to avoid cars joining my lane up ahead. To my suprise when I moved over, I was a good car length or so ahead of his F430. You could tell he was trying from the noise when he set off and the gestures he was making when behind my car in lane 2!

I know he may have fluffed a gear change or whatever, but RS4's can't be that slow.

Incidentally, I thought the RS4's cross plane V8 sounded much nicer than his F430's V8, which I am guessing has a flat crank.

I thought this had already happened? Or is it just in the Sportbacks?
