Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 2011
We are staying at Camping Blue which I am told is on the perimeter of the circuit. This will be my first Le Mans trip so we've probably been conned!
Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 2011
I'm doing exactly the same, I'm getting the Tunnel at I think 8.20 on the Friday, you? Could be a chance for a small convoy? I'm staying in your campsite with Pistonheads too.Nobber wrote:Most of us are self employed so heading over Friday morning and coming back Monday morning.sonny wrote: I would imagine that would be a right laugh, when you heading over?
We did the Renham 24hr race for my stag do nearly 2 years ago now and it was incredible! The road trip was almost as good as the race. 7 Berth long wheel base transit, flat out at 95 in the outside lane of the Autobahn, 6 lads on board, full of beer from Calais playing xbox in the back!
Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 2011
I'll find out buddy and let you know! Would be wicked to hook up with the convoy!

Either way not really bothered if I miss it or not, just going to start the drinking early.
Normally Practice finishes Thursday night.
Open Pit Lane on Friday.
Saturday am early race and slow lap usually by Corvette Owners Club or something.
Followed by Next year's car lap.
Saturday the main race starts at 3pm.
Don't miss viewing the race from down at Mulsanne.
You stand about 10m from the circuit and feel the cars go past at 200mph. Stunning...
B5 S4 Saloon Widebody Track Car.
B5 RS4 - now sold.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 2011
There is a scary thread running on Pistonheads about speeding to Le Mans so beware, after reading this I think my speedo will be welded to 130kph the entire way!
Here is the bit that put the fear in me:
"So, having read today's paper, the result is this:-
1. any excess speed more than 30mph over the prevailing limit will incur a fine of 3,750 euros and the car/bike impounded. see 3.
2. the offence has now been uprated to a serious crime, and punishable with up to five years in prison
3. the vehicle will be confiscated and sold for state funds
4. Any use of a mobile phone will incur a fine of 135 euros on the spot
5. Motorcyclists must from hereon wear a high viz jacket at all times
6. The alcohol limit has remained at 0.5 grammes, not reduced to 0.2 as thought
7.The request to reduce the maximum speed limit in town to 20mph has not been applied
I am sure that there will be numerous cases of people who, after Le Mans, will cry wolf, just like the thread about "who is a member of the 750 euro club". I can't give you a more grave warning than this. I spoke to a gendarme today and they are under orders to implement the letter of the law."
