Front centre arm rest...
Front centre arm rest...
Folks, could someone clarify for me whether or not this arm rest between the two front seats that sometimes houses the phone prep was an option from new, and can it be added to a car without one?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Front centre arm rest...
It's ok, I found the bit about the option from new; No cost option.
Re: Front centre arm rest...
It was an option, I have it in my Rs4, Its always up and hardly use it as it gets in the way of the hand brake! Maybe on a long journey I would but dont do many of those...
It also squeaks which is annoying...

Re: Front centre arm rest...
Well I certainly don't want squeaks! The bulk of my mileage tends to be on the motorway though and I was thinking I'd miss it if I found a car without one.
Re: Front centre arm rest...
well it only squeaks when its up, so as long as you keep it down and your arm rested on it, it doesnt... just also if you do buy one... just handle the clip with care, that opens the arm rest up as they are know the break... easy fix, but annoying every time you put the armrest up and everything flys out haha
Re: Front centre arm rest...
Duly noted thank you! It seems this might be quite an expensive addition. Accoring to Camberely the box itself is about £200, that's not including the cost of a lid to match the interior trim, a quote for which required a VIN which I obviously don't have yet. Then there's fitting... but I don't know what's required for that on a retrofit.

Re: Front centre arm rest...
Here is the fix that one of my mates did either that or buy a new clip!
I have however managed to fix mine and it works 100% So I decided to post a small how to:
1.
Here is a view of the broken clip and other parts.

2.
Open the front end of the lid. I inserted a kitchen knife to hold the twp open whilst working.

3.
My weapon of choice was pratley's WONDA FIX, just mix 2 parts to 1

4.
Here you see the same part after I have glued the clip back on. Let it dry completely before attempting to re assemble.
As you can see I was not shy with the glue.....you can always file away the excess with your better halfs nail file.

5.
Re assemble and volia.
I was a bit scaeptacle about the lasting result, but I can feel that it is rock solid and will not give me problems
