How many miles/tank city drivers?
Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
Dave are you suggesting that audi Walton didnt fix properly the gauge?
If so and considering how bad they've been what would you advise to do?
Try to have this re-examined by another audi garage? (I've been told that all audi repairs carry
2 yrs warranty at any audi dealer - dunno if it's true)
I'm a bit lost at this stage

I'm of the opinion that the instrment coding for the fuel gauge and senders needs checking by someone that knows what they are doing - since the symptoms you're describing COULD fit with someone pressing the wrong buttons on the VAS and coding it as a FWD instead of a quattro.pisquano wrote:Dave are you suggesting that audi Walton didnt fix properly the gauge?

I'd suggest you seriously think about going to Camberley Audi.

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
I tried to speak to Rob @ Audi Camberley but he must have been too busy to call me back...will try again next week.
thing is they have a very good reputation so I might as well go there .... I will see what happens perhaps at the meet up on the 1st but afterwards I will try and go to any other audi dealer but Walton...
it really makes me furious that I might have just wasted £250 pounds at Walton Audi for a job poorly done
--- in fact the lady I spoke to at Audi Camberley said they will still have to charge me as, parts aside, the labour warranty is dealer specific. nothing they can do and I don't blame them.
I even phoned Audi UK and complained: not much they can do - they said that in the event another dealer finds out that the previous repair had been done improperly, it's up to them, if they want to, to liaise with the previous dealer and maybe they can sort something out -- no guarantee that I will not have to simply pay out a full repair...
they also offered to escalate this into a proper formal complaint.... I will decide what to do.
has anyone had experiences with Audi Victoria, in central london? that would be soo much easier...
but still...this time I want to go to a proper garage... I propose to do a "black list" of audi dealers: Walton would be the 1st!!

In that event - if it happens -if you get the second dealer to put in writing what they found you could consider, possibly with advice from the CAB, writing to the first dealer telling them that you have expert evidence that they didn't carry out a proper job and if they don't compensate you then you will consider taking action in the Small Claims Court?pisquano wrote:in the event another dealer finds out that the previous repair had been done improperly, it's up to them, if they want to, to liaise with the previous dealer and maybe they can sort something out

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
I agree with Dave, but I'd go further and put them on notice now. Write them a letter saying you have serious doubts that the original repair was carried out correctly and intend seeking a 2nd opinion. Of course, you also have to give them the chance to correct/re-examine the repair before going to Camberley.

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
thanks for the advice guys... not sure I want to go back to Walton.... also, as Dave pointed out, even if they offered to re-examine my car, I just do not think they are skilled enough and do not want them to work on it again....Steve_C wrote:I agree with Dave, but I'd go further and put them on notice now. I will try to get the opinion from Camberley and see.... unless some nice soul happens to be able to solve my problem on the meet up
but I am not sure anyone with Vagcom is actually coming?

Does anyone know of an effective way to place a complaint @ audi uk? In the recent years I haven't received such an appalling service anywhere else.

They're real human beings who care whether you receive good or bad customer service at an Audi dealer.
Having had several shocking experiences in the past at dealers including Southampton, Glasgow, Cardiff and Stirling, they've always resolved the issue. They'd be my first port of call rather than the CAB.
I do agree that some sort of dealer blacklist should be established, it's the only real weapon we have, and one that could help many more owners to avoid bad experiences.

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
Thanks I've spoken to them and had a very good impression although I'm not sure hOw much they can really do.
They've "opened a case" and will call me next week to discuss more.
In your case what were they able to do?

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
Most recently Audi Customer Service agreed with me that Cardiff Audi were duty-bound to replace front discs and pads that they were trying to avoid replacing, so they rang Cardiff and told them to replace them.
In the end I got so bored waiting for Cardiff to call me back I rang Camberley and was booked in there the same day, but Audi CS rang back to explain that Cardiff would still do the work if I required. I refused on the basis that I'd already sorted the situation myself via Camberley, and was in no hurry to visit Cardiff ever again.
In the past they've made Stirling Audi give me a courtesy car when they'd had my S2 for several weeks without being able to repair it.
They also previously arranged for Milton Keynes Audi to replace FOC a speedo on my first S2 which Lomond Audi (Glasgow) had made me pay for even though they'd ordered the wrong part. (well, either Glasgow or Southampton ordered the wrong part, I never got to the bottom of that...)
In a nutshell, they should be able to help you if one of the dealers has behaved negligently, which most of the dealers do most of the time in my experience.

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
Ok quick update
Car now went on reserve at 150 miles.
The gauge and prediction seem now more aligned and it tells me 20 miles to go although the gauge is dangerously close to the bottom
170 would still be decent (all London driving) but I bought a 5lt tank to see how much I can go after the prediction goes to 0. Some people here said they went an extra 15/20 miles so let's see
Curiously the prediction became more and more "realistic" as the tank got emptier, from a total of nearly 200 to now 170

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
got 26 on trip Inverness to london! the best ever, normally around the 20 mark, but still worth it!
Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
just wanted to update everyone.
the range seems to be pretty aligned with the position of the needle
still, even filling the tank completely the gauge doesn't reach the level I have seen with other cars at the Ace Cafe meet (I have seen the needle going past the top level mark even without expelling the air)
this is how it looks after filling it completely, also using the valve to expel air to push in extra litres

now...if you were me would you
1) still insist and go back to Audi Walton asking them to fix this properly? / have Audi UK speak to them (actually I'd rather shoot myself in the foot than have my car looked at again by Audi Walton)
2) go somewhere else at risk of paying more money?
3) forget about it as it's not a big deal < actually I am very tempted but hey.....>
Audi UK is chasing me to see if I still want to fill a formal complaint.... I am not sure about it as it seems like this will just be a waste of time, if I don't then go back to Walton, which I actually really don't want to do

Re: How many miles/tank city drivers?
1) or 3)
2) will just cost you more money.
If you choose 1), remember that a lot has changed since you first went to Walton, now you're going back with the weight of Audi's customer services team behind you.
Walton are much less likely to mess up now.
