Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
I've decided to experiment with this stuff since my car is in for its service on Thursday and will have an oil change then The pertol treatment has worked so this will see if there is any additional benefit. I read the instructions and it looks like the suggestion is to spray in the air intake by removing the air filter, but would this not affect the MAF?
Is there an entry point after the MAF I could spray this in and if so, has somebody got an idiots guide diagram of can describe where to appl;y for this idiot?
Cheers.

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
get some tubing that fits snug on the product nozzle
loosen the hose clamp after the afm and insert the tubing...
I think you are correct on not wanting to hose down the afm

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
I did this treatment a couple of months ago and it really did make a noticeable difference. It felt a lot sharper instantly, well with it .
I loosened the clip after the maf and put it in that way as I didn't want to risk any damage.

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
Some of the guys in SA have used it...
They took off the intake pipe... Sprayed it down, while the engine is running at around 2000rpm...

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
Apologies for slightly daft question but is it just one spray treatment or two given RS has 8 lots of valves to treat rather than 4 lots in 4 cyl engines which I would expect is the larger market for this product ?

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
It''s a good point. TBH with the Petrol Treatment I use it every 4-5k miles whereas it says every 10k Km's and will probably do the same with the spray which is supposed to be every 15k km's. Given I have never used it before I will probbaly try it this time and then prior to my next oil change in 5-8k miles time.

I gather you had someone modulating the throttle then whilst you sprayed it in?d10uug wrote:I did this treatment a couple of months ago and it really did make a noticeable difference. It felt a lot sharper instantly, well with it .

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
I checked directly with Wynns in relation to my own question (1 or 2 applications for a V8).
I got a very quick and friendly response which is that if they are badly coked up use a second application.
When I queried about an oil change being required they where clear that it wasn't required as both the chemical and the dissolved deposits are combusted.
Also, the formula of the products (spray and fuel additive) have recently changed and are revised as follows:
· Aerosol is now Petrol EGR 3 - pn 29879
· Tank treatment is now Petrol Clean 3 – pn 29793
Now just need to figure out where I can actually get the stuff in Ireland....

Good answer if you know how badly coked up they are. Unless by borescope you'll be opening up the IM so may as well clean it by hand anyway!
Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
Liqui Molly also do a similar Product, Im going to pick up a can this week and give it a try...
As for how do I know how clogged they are, I have no idea but couldn't hurt to try a can

Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
I will at some stage try their Toptech 4200 Oil given it is also supposed to have CB minimising properties.
Re: Wynns DIP3 Intake Cleaner
I should have been clearer - the advice by Wynns wasn't on the basis of knowing exactly how much CB there was but if symptoms of it where still there after 1 application - eg rough idle, lack of top end power etc.
Anyways, their recomendation was to use the intake cleaner at least once a year as a preventative maintenance exercise.
