you need to see it with the RS bodykit

the wider bumper f&r and skirts will extenuate the arches

look at a C5 S6 and a C5 RS 6 ... same arches, very different look

I think it will look good, and with a s-tronic RS 5 engine, go like stink as well

B8 came out on 08/58

so likely this will come out on a 12/62 ... run til 14/64

then B9 will come out

cant afford to skip a platform any more Sonny ... too much of a rival to BMW M3 / Merc C 63 now

B5 ended 2002 ... B7 started 2006 ... so 4 years with no RS 4, that was ok while Audi were growing, but now they have aims to be No # 1 ...

Would I have one, hell yeah ! but no RS cars on my company car list

as with all these things, that could simply be a tuned/moded S4, they won't have a clue if its the real deal... I will wait and see, no matter what its like, the B7 RS4 will still remain the benchmark for it, and its a hard act to follow if you ask me

Re the "manual versus paddle shift" question.

Having driven a Granturismo S automatic (not the MC shift) a year or so ago, I'm completely sold; prior to this I was a resolute "manual only" driver. Now, I'm pretty sure that, unless I dip into Caterham ownership again (or something similar like a Morgan three-wheeler), the next car will be an auto/dual clutch with paddles. It's not a diluted driving experience; it's just a different driving experience.

Its pretty obvious to me that the body is WIP so I cannot see the point in making negative comments on the look, it looks like an S4 at the mo..end of!
Hopefully they will be a bit more immaginative than they were with the RS5 and give it the full B7 RS4 flared rear arches and other bits, if they equalled the B7 external tweeks it will look stunning and it will defo be my next car, in fact it fits in nicely with when my M3 goes back if what the press are saying is true.
I also think for me all the negative points of the RS5 could well turn into positives on an RS4 should they use all the running gear from the RS5 as it would fit more into how I would want an Avant to drive.
They must however make it look atleast as agressive as the B7 to make me want one otherwise I shall always be hankering after a B7.

Do you not feel howwever that it is not as much of a technological step forward as it could be? Look at the gap in performance and dynamicism between B5 and B7. But then I don't suppose it matter to Audi as they'll sell them anyway. When I moved from S4 to Rs4 I couldn't initially justify the £20+K difference and this time I probably won't be able to justify the £40+K differential for what little extra performance you get just to have a newer car. And it will be behind the M3 and C63 that are already out and no doubt will be replaced shortly by better version in a short while. From going from being ahead of the game with the B7 RS4 Audi are in serious threat or lagging behind. Maybe the B7 was just too good.
