Loba RS6 C5

Post by amanda1 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 11:52 pm

Well the gearbox TC decided to fail in December so I had no other option but to book her into Unit 20 to have the work done. Due to the type of work going to be done I had to wait for an available slot. At this time it was just for the TC to be done :eh:
Any way car was taken to Martin and Lee on the 7th Feb for the engine and gearbox to be dropped and the TC sent to the automatic gearbox place who then would send it to a place in the midlands to be laser cut open so the warranty enginerr could peer inside and say Yeh or neigh to warranty claim :?
Here is the offending item :o
Image
OMG my hole is huge!!!!!!
Image
My poor engine all alone
Image
This was the state of play for a good 10 days while Martin and I were waiting to hear what the outcome would be. However I knew my intercoolers were leaking and it made sense to replace them and other bits and bobs at the same time so I decided on Wagners, so these were duly ordered from the states. However someone threw some else into the mix............. a certain UK Loba rep by the name of Simon!!!!! He posted pictures of new turbos from Loba for the c5 RS6 EKK!!!!!
Look at these beauties ;)
Image
That was it after speaking to Simon and then Martin, I thought bugger it, why not !!!!!!..................................I was now on the slippery slope and sliding down it very, very quickly :o :o
So Loba cams/gaskets and 650 turbos were ordered and a head skim authorised........I must be mad!!! A report came back that a belt had failed on TC very rare fault appantly and after taking more advice from Martin a full gearbox rebuild was authorised  Now it was just a waiting game .
All parts arrived so it was now a waiting game for Martn and Lee to rebuild her ;) Some piccies!!!
A bodge from a previous owner!!! see you all get found out eventually :o
Image
Loba cams
Image
Almost rebuilt engine!!!
Image
New shiney service bits!!!
Image
Wagners with black rubber!!!!
Image
Ohhhh she looks almost normal now ;)
Image
Just a peek of something special hidden!!!
Image
Viper rubbing his black glove over her :o

http://s514.photobucket.com/albums/t342 ... n=organize
And finally this
Image
I would like to add this as to parts fitted but it isn't a complete list :o
Loba cams/gaskets
Loba turbo's 650's
Head skim
Wagners/ carbon shroud kit
Uprated fuel pump and reg
Silicone hose kit
Rebuilt gearbox
All maintance parts that made sense to change while engine and box were out!!
A Viper custom remap
But and here is the best bit :D Many many THANKS to everyone that has worked/supplied parts for my baby ;) In particular Martin and Lee at Unit 20 for putting up with me and everything and boy did they have their work cut out !!!!! Si for the Loba bits/advice and Viper for having again to deal with me and my wants!!!

Just a litle note about the torque converter repair, it was done by a company in Kettering not the midlands.
Great write up amanda and i kind of hope the gearbox fails soon so you get your next trick on the go

Great write up, lots of work gone into that. Awaiting for the results when she is finished.

Is the manual a easy conversion?

Very nice Amanda! Good work:)

Torque converter replacement is the cost efficient way to deal with the RS6 box?
