Milltek - Cat Back

Post by Fingers01 » Thu Mar 17, 2011 8:47 pm

My RS6 is standard car and i want to know what difference apart from the sound will having a milltek cat back fitted really make.

Any improvement to performance? Throttle response?

A little less back pressure should improve turbo spool up a tad, but I doubt you will notice it. The sounds is awesome tho!

Phil is that with normal cats still..? Does the non res really sound good with out doing cats. Is the sound that much better than standard. Can you tell if you have a milltek already, has it got a name on it. I want better noise but worry the non res on its own wont live up to my expectations, cant afford cats as well.

Where is cheapest place to get a milly fitted, I am south

I have had OEM, catback non-res only and now full Milltek with 100 cell cats.

The catback non-res with OEM cats is lots more noisy and adding the downpipes added maybe 25% more grumble and lots of turbo whistle. If you just want sound the cat back only is perfect for you at approx £800 odd plus fitting.

Not as loud as say a TVR but the insulation is just right to let the rumble in without being too boomy. You really got to hear it yourself

Not if you just want the noise, I only upgraded to the sport cats after an EGT died and there was a lot of labour cost overlap. Mine sounds a little NASCAR-like under loads and full beans :) Where are you based, someone may be nearby.

I recently fitted a non res cat back Milltek to my beast and was disappointed at first thought it was still too quiet. I have the twin pane glass plus the RS6 is well insulated so this didn't help :) I took it for an MOT last week and due to the quattro the MOT tester (my friend) has to drive the car with a special brake tester on the passenger floor. I told him to floor it he did and it sounded brilliant from outside :jump:

So I guess you are happy with it....

My reason for asking so many questions, I had an exhaust fitted to a car once, cost a grand and made no difference really except at way over the speed limit. Which was pretty pointless.
