Picked up my RS5 - pics

Post by giles » Tue Mar 08, 2011 6:23 pm

Wow. Totally amazed by the car and will post some more thoughts soon. about 400 miles so far and grinning all the time. I love it. Here are some basic iphone photos. I don't really care about the numberplate being shown. People can see it when i drive it anyway :) The noise it makes going down a gear is awesome.....

I will take some proper photos at some point..

Yes, I really am amazed by it. I have had so many Audis so I am used to the great interiors but this one just feels so good and looks fantastic. Great gadgets on it and the B&O stereo is something else.

I guess the biggest shock is how comfortable it is on our bad country roads. Contrary to reviews if you have the suspension in Comfort it really is an incredibly smooth ride. Dynamic suspension however is ridiculous and you can't last 30 seconds with that setting on.

Also the noise of the thing with the sports exhaust is incredible, especially the sound when it goes down a gear. The autobox is great, paddle work very well. At 30 mph in dynamic though the engine is straining in 2nd gear wants you to floor it. Hard to drive in 30 zones in dynamic engine mode - so I find myself paddle shifting up.

People in the village are already commenting on the sound of the thing especially the huge noise going down a gear which happens without you choosing.....oops

I am also using a lot of petrol driving in my individual mode which is set as

Engine - dynamic
Steering - comfort
Suspension - comfort
Exhaust - dynamic

Setting the car to auto or comfort changes the whole thing - a lot quieter and drops the revs right down - but that would be BORING.

Ownership of the thing is so good and it is so easy to drive. Perhaps M3 drivers don't want that - but I do. It sticks to the road like glue and is drawing masses and masses of looks. A lot of people filming or taking photos of the car on their iPhones LOL

Thanks for the write up, sounds amazing. The settings sound great (wish my RS4 had them).

Whats the fuel economy like?

Fantastic pics, fantastic car and a fantastic house too!

The only thing I dont like is the mesh colour, would look better black imo..I still would not kick it out of bed though!
