Used to use it in previous cars. Only used it once in the RS4. I would say I did not notice a difference.

Since I moved to Ireland I have been slighlty dubious about the level of supposed detergents in the petrol over here (and there is only one brand which is supposedly 99RON) so its possible the Redex has more gunk to clean in my case but certainly not a placebo effect.

Did you notice any difference when you used Redex on your previous cars ?

Redex is a good cleaner, noticed it on numerous VWs and BMWs. But the Audi, not really, to be fair the car is modded so may not be able to tell as much. I only ever use Shell V-power now and have confidence in the fuel having good cleaning properties.
Just wondered if there was ppl on here who used it, or if anyone knew of any pros and cons of using it.

I think our mods are similar so could well be fuel quality. The 99RON here is 5% bio ethanol based (similar to Tesco 99 in the UK).

Would be good to hear others experiences of Redex or other injector cleaners.

I give all three of our cars a dose of Redex every few months, especially when I start to feel hesitation or roughness.

I'd say it had a big effect on the RS4 the first time I used it with the hesitation and roughness going, it has less effect on the other cars (which are much lower states of tune) but still worthwhile.

I noticed something strange today. For the first time I felt the 5.5K 'kick'. I've always looked out for it but only senses it happening today and that's after the Wynn's petrol treatment had done its magic.

But I am confused by this: how could a petrol treatment introduce the 'kick' back into my car? Maybe it was simply the result of me driving the car very hard for a couple of days and nothing to do with the petrol treatment?

Does Redex "go off" ?!
I've got a couple of bottles of it but they've been hanging about in my garage for about ten years!

I would expect that most of the volatiles have evaported in 10 years - take them down the tip and buy some new.

Mac - I am in ROI, its Maxol and the petrol is called E5. I think they have a stations in NI but not sure they stock E5 have a look here:

http://www.maxol.ie/general-content/e5-stations.html

Depending ion where you are in NI you can nip over the border and get E5 in a number of outlets in Louth and Monaghan - fuel is a bit cheaper in ROI also.

Cheers,

J

I use the liqui Molly Fuel injector cleaner! has worked well so far, use it every 7500km or so... engine seems smoother after use!
I also use there Engine flush, you put it in just before you do a Oil service!
