Yep, your right - and another little thing that I now know about the car...I suppose thats what forums like this are for.

I thought it might be usefull for people to know that the RS4 requires vacuum to close the exhaust valves.

Ie no vacuum the valves are open, hence if you disconnect the tubes to the valve, the valves remain open all the time :)
