Thanks for the infoaka_dk wrote:ice'coffee ... I went to see the muggy blue cab dropped from 29.9 to 26.9
The reason its dropped its cos its aging ... Car dealers in the main get vehicle funding for 90days, but most efficient operators will have a policy to get shot or reduce at 60days ... Couple in a book drop, winter and wk before Xmas ... That equals 3k drop
The car is nice ... Got brand new pads and discs up front, DRC problem sorted, refurbed wheels and straight paint
But is on some budget kumo tyres
the worst bit is the condition of the front leather, very worn and in fact the leather on the bolster on the drivers seat has come full away from the frame!!!!
Demo+1owner.
Full service done few months ago inc plugs ... But was a non audi garage! So quite how its got through to audi approved I don't know
Anyhow, offered them 26dead ... He said they can't move a penny
We'll see after its still sitting there at new year!

Another factor for the trade sellers could be Financial Year End. Many businesses run to a 31 Dec FYE (31 Mar is another popular one). Always good to maximise sales and minimise money tied up in inventory on the year end date, in order to keep the accounts looking as healthy as possible and the bank manager happy(ish)! Also I suspect a tight month for cash flow as not many end up 'under the Christmas tree'... the bills will still be coming in though! For some shifting one of these will equal shifting several cheaper stock cars.
Boss to salesman: "get the three highest value cars off the forecourt or you can can cancel Christmas!"
BTW I once worked for a division of a large company that sold half of it's inventory a day or so before the FYE and bought it back again a day or two after the FYE. Happened every year... until a clever auditor found out! Resulted in an 'early retirement' for the divisional director.

Selling a car will change stock into cash (as you say) but it should also realise the latent profit assuming the car is sold for more than its stock value. Hence if you make a profit of £3k on a sale you are changing stock of £30k into cash of £33k. This £3k profit is what strengthens the balance sheet (and improves liquidity).
Gone to the dark side
Of course, had forgotten that the profit element becomes cash !Steve_C wrote:Selling a car will change stock into cash (as you say) but it should also realise the latent profit assuming the car is sold for more than its stock value. Blimey and I thought this was a forum about motors! Seems to be some kind of VAT shindig thesedays.
Have just noticed though that Watford Audi have dropped a further £1k off the price of the Daytona Avant they've had for a while. It's now at £32,450. Could've sworn it was advertised at £34,450 a few weeks back but was definately at £33,450 earlier this week.

I still think it's overpriced. Im not at all sure why that car warrants that price tag, is it just because it's a 57?
