Changing side light bulbs

Post by JogoRS4 » Fri Dec 10, 2010 6:10 pm

Hi, Can some one explain how to get the sidelight bulbs out?
I removed the holder for the DRL but still can't get hold of the side light holder sufficiently to get the thing out!
Do they twist?
Do you just need small hands?

Any clues would be very much appreciated. :(

Be prepared to lose some skin off the knuckles and yes they twist out.

I thought the side-lights just pulled out using the wires ? DRLs definitely twist as managed to un-twist the bulb & drop into the headlight !

Hi

I tried pulling by the wires but obviously have to be careful... i just can't get my hands in to grab hold of it... :(

DRL's are quite easy..out with a twist....

Thanks

Try wiggling the wires as you pull them out, make sure you are pulling them straight back. Start with the passenger side as more room. I think it is down to hand size or angle of attack or something as I found the sidelights easy but the DRLs tricky !

OK Managed to get a bulb out but the new SEM LED ones, with load resisters in built, "specially designed for the Audi canbus system" bring up the error message of a bulb out.... any ideas?
Thanks

Only that most of us have given up & are using PIAA incandescent bulbs that are almost white...

There is a good thread here regarding fitting resistors but will mean splicing your wiring etc.

I had the same problem with number plate lights, which were also meant to be DIS compatible. I think the colour DIS is harder work/more sopisticated than the mono DIS & that is the problem.
