The reason for the pricing is that they're all old now. Most cars loose 50% in their first 3 years then a further 50% of that in the following 3 years. Therefore 60k becomes 30k becomes 15k retail - then account for reliability issues and traders margin £10,500 is where a lot of us are at.

Just thought I was in at no.3 due to having no problems, confusing, I never know which Golf-Father I'm posting to. I had the 'box glycol tested two weeks ago at Camberley Audi and it was tip top, the ATF was a little burnt and discoloured but nothing bad according to Rob. I've never experienced the 'box slip on me but I've been in the car when my 'ho has been driving (she leaves it in D and is very hesitant) and it banged into gear once. That was three months ago, nothing since. I'll get the GB serviced at Camberley (with full a flush, new pan etc) very soon as it'll be approaching 20k miles since its last GB service.

I took it out on the weekend and I was driving it very hard with at least 5 big launches from lights (playing with an R32 and a Jag XK8 of all things), no issue. The gearbox felt as solid as a really big solid thing, made out of rock and bolted to another big solid thing made out of solidinium....
A superb early morning run, there is a lovely section of private road after Hindhead that I was able to max out 4th and push into a scary chunk of 5th. I love that ripping through the air sound!
The '6 is getting old, it is a high miler but it is well looked after and it is still amazing. More to come from it and I'll never let it go.

Luke, I read it as DK's number 1,2 and 3. 1st was the avus saloon, 2nd was Darth, 3rd was/is the silver plus.

Yeah, that's what I'd originally asked but I was never informed of a slipping 'box during purchase, nor have I ever experienced any recurring slippage (just the single event mentioned in a year of ownership). Because of this I thought maybe Golf was confused and referring to his ownership or something completely different.
In hindsight, it seems like a pretty unusual thing to post. It kind of implies DK only lets his RS6 cars go when the gearbox plays foul, not something I'd like to read about from a fellow forum monger but I’m sure Golf knows what he’s saying.

I sold mine recently. But, had i a vast amount of spare cash i would have kept it as a garage queen and bought another motor for everyday use. The fact i now have an M5 is only because i wanted something newer as a step toward the C6.

The C5 is the best and worst car i have ever owned. The M5 is great (better in many ways) but it doesnt take charge of your life like the RS. It was the best because it really was an understated super car killer. It had the best interior build quality ive seen on a car yet. The engine was just superb and the gearbox a dream to use.

Mine was mapped to stage 1+ (inc gearbox tcu) and serviced at twice the recomended interval rate. The gearbox was also well maintained despite the manufacturers guidlines. As a result of lots of care, cash and more care it never missed a beat. Thats the way to look after these cars.

Theres no point owning one and just sticking to the recommended services. You have to keep a constant eye on them and get things seen to as soon and they make an appearance. If you look after it, then it'll look after you.

Just driven from Penzance to Leeds in mine.
Ave speed on the DIS 65 MPH (but mostly cruising at 80, fairly busy roads so no point trying to go much faster and didn't see anyone worth playing with after Exeter) Average MPG 26.
Never missed a beat and felt fresh as a daisy when I arrived.

This is why I love My car.

LOL, its like bloody eastenders in here

Lets put this all straight.

I think mr golf, in his usual helpful contribution, was implying that I don't tend to keep my cars very long ... Not that am dodgy and sell when I hit a problem, as the reality is very much the opposite as I have sold a number of my cars to forum members

In regards to my RS 6 history, seeing as its of such interest.

1. Avus saloon, bought from Audi, sold 5-6 months later to mr Golf (mr golfs relation) with full audi warranty ... They then managed to blow up the Gearbox after some street dueling as far as I was told

2. Darth, bought from mr golf - I wasn't informed of any slippage, and didn't encounter any ... I had it checked out by 2 different audi dealers when it was in for other work, as I was paranoid, but they reported no issues...sold to mr bam_bam with full audi warranty and 30k onwards from mr golfs ownership and multiple trans euro adventures it still going hell to leather much to my pleasure as bam_bam will take great care of him and he's a top bloke

3. My Plus - no issues, and unless mr golf has £16k in his sky rocket he won't be driving it ;o)

Anyone who knows me or has met me at a meet will realise I'm just mad about audi RS and not out to diddle anyone, if I sell its for my own genuine reason, i.e. Upgrade to an RS 4 or be sensible and not have 4 cars outside the house as the missus goes mental!

Anyone need any further clarifications just get in touch!
