OK will have to investigate. Do you guys have the small sun visor behind the rear view mirror?

Yep, the Sods Law Visor!!!
my screen now has a tint and a dark strip across the top like a "sun strip" as you put it.

According to the brochure posted in the other thread, only the cabriolets got the sun strip as standard.

2006 Avant - does have a sun-strip (hard to see have to look at an angle but easier to see from inside the car) & small sunvisor behind the mirror.

Windscreen is a St-Gobain & pretty sure is original but 2nd owner so can't be 100% sure...

Mine has a grey sun strip and was fitted 2 months ago, it got cracked when on test drive after a load work was done by Audi, they told me they broke it and said autoglass will fit a new one and i insisted i wanted a OEM screen and they fitted one
